People of New Cumberland and beyond, you are invited! We are prayerfully looking forward to an amazing time with God and His people tomorrow. Join us Thursday, June 11 at the New Cumberland Food Truck and Restaurant from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Food trucks will be serving up scrumptious food right in the heart of downtown New Cumberland at Market Square. Participating food trucks this month include: Diesel & Dough, DonutNV Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Grappling Crab Shack, Jon’s Throwdown, Kokua Shave Ice, Mad Dash Concessions, Midnite Smokin’ BBQ, and Stacked AF pancakes .

Memorial Day Gratitude
A reminder of dedication from a historic time from Kohima, India

High in the rugged hills of northeast India lies Kohima, a place where one of World War II’s fiercest and most decisive battles was fought. In 1944, Allied soldiers—many of them young, far from home, and vastly outnumbered—stood against the advancing Japanese army in what became known as the Battle of Kohima. For weeks, the fighting raged yard by yard, often so close that soldiers said the enemy was “no more than a grenade’s throw away.”

The defenders of Kohima held their ground with extraordinary courage. They fought through hunger, exhaustion, and relentless assault, determined not only to protect the land beneath their feet but to safeguard the freedom of generations yet to come. Their stand turned the tide of the war in the East, preventing the invasion of India and altering the course of history.

Today, at the Kohima War Cemetery, a simple stone bears the words that capture the heart of their sacrifice:
“When you go home, tell them that we gave our today for your tomorrow.”

It is a reminder that the peace we enjoy was paid for by those who chose duty over safety, courage over fear, and sacrifice over self.
