Today, like many churches, we will be offering prayers and blessings for school, teachers, administrators, students, coaches, and everyone involved in education in all forms.

Almighty God, Father, ☩ Son, and Holy Spirit, bless you as this
new school year begins. May God go before you to prepare your way. May Christ walk beside you as your friend and companion. May the Holy Spirit fill you with wisdom, courage, patience, curiosity, and joy. May your classrooms be places of discovery. May your schools be places of safety and belonging May your words build others up. May your hands serve your
neighbors. May your minds remain curious. May your hearts
remain compassionate. And wherever this school year takes you, may you always remember that you are a beloved child of God, called by name, claimed in baptism, and sent into the world to love and serve. Amen.

Join us this morning at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church on Christiana Road in New Castle as we wrestle with why Jesus gives Peter one of the sharpest rebukes in the Bible and what it might have to say about our own tendency to make Jesus into the Messiah we want rather than follow the Messiah who is actually standing before us.

Come as you are. Bring your questions. Stay for worship, fellowship, and maybe even a little holy discomfort.
