Already before the world began, God so loved the world that he gave his Son. God hasn’t forgotten you. He loves you.

Sometimes earthly friends disappoint us. In Jesus we have a friend who never disappoints. Jesus is still with us not only in our hearts and thoughts, but is really with us even though he is invisible. And his Word is the strength of our hearts. You can rely on him. Jesus, stay with us.

Be fearless and courageous. Don't you know that God is faithful? Listen to what his Word says to you, "by the mercies of the Lord we are not consumed, for his compassions do not fail" (Lamentations 3:22). He will not go back on his Word when you are in deep distress, even in a struggle with death itself. God's old fatherly compassions are new every morning.
