Faithful from around the Diocese of Bridgeport are invited join a two-day pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. this October, a journey of faith, prayer, and fellowship to sacred sites in our nation’s capital.

Christine Otis, our gifted youth minister, has received the Saint John Paul II Parish Leadership Award from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) . The award recognizes Chris’s extraordinary work with teens at Saint Aloysius where she facilitates an encounter with Christ.

We are immensely proud of Chris, she is a gift to our parish, to New Canaan, and to the Church!

As summer winds down, we are preparing for a busy pastoral year. I am happy to give you a glimpse of what’s ahead and share some good news with you.

Christine Otis, our gifted youth minister, has received the Saint John Paul II Parish Leadership Award from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. The award recognizes Chris’s extraordinary work with teens at Saint Aloysius where she facilitates an encounter with Christ. You can read more about this honor for Chris in the latest issue of Fairfield County Catholic.

Saint Aloysius Catholic Preschool is open! The State of Connecticut awarded us a license to operate, the building is complete, and we will welcome our first students on September 1st. Our teachers and staff are all on board, the furniture is in place, and the teachers and assistant teachers spent this week putting the finishing touches on their classrooms. I am looking forward to welcoming our students and parents. They are embarking on an adventure of faith and learning that will form them as faithful disciples. A special word of thanks to Dr. John Alfone who assisted us with the complex process of securing our license from the state. Along with Maria Hillman, our preschool director, and some others, Dr. Alfone made our dream of a preschool a reality. Please keep our teachers, staff, and students in your prayers.

On September 11, we mark the 25th anniversary of that fateful day. We will have a special Mass as a parish family on the 11th at 5:30 pm. Come and pray for those who died, their families, the heroic responders, and join us in prayers for peace.

As a parish family, we will share a pastoral year filled with opportunities to grow in faith, spend some social time together, experience healing, pray, and worship together. I think we will have fun gathering in our new space. We are sprucing up our website, and we will have a calendar that will be updated regularly. I encourage you to look ahead and mark events on your calendar. May God bless us always!
