It is fitting that this Pride Month, Emanuel celebrates 30 years of being Reconciling in Christ (RIC), a Lutheran designation that says we are an affirming community that welcomes the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ folx. Full inclusion means we welcome and affirm our q***r siblings as congregants and as ordained and lay leaders. It is a source of pride for us to have been the first congregation in NJ to become RIC. Over the years, the designation has evolved to include not only LGBTQ+ justice but antiracism as well.
