Christlike in a Christless culture series:
“What is really at the center of your life?”
1 Corinthians 11:17-26
The table reminds us what we believe, how we belong, and who we are.
1.) The proclamation of Sacrifice orders my beliefs.
- communion pulls our eyes away from ourself, the table puts Jesus back in the center.
- Grace is free to us, but Grace was never cheap.
- Christianity didn’t start with “Do better” Christianity began with “it is finished.”
- Culture says “it depends on me.” Christ says It is finished.
2.) The experience of community orders our culture.
- Every person we encounter is someone Christ died for.
- The church cannot build a table of grace by building a culture of status.
- We don’t just preach grace, we create a culture that is shaped by grace.
- Culture says Build Status. Christ says Practice Grace.
3.) The declaration of the new Covenant orders my identity.
- Culture says Jesus belongs to me. Christ says I belong to Jesus.
- Jesus is not an addition to the life you built, He is the foundation that you build your life on.
