You can't control the temptations that come your way, but you can control your response. God is faithful and always provides a choice to escape. That's the power of faith.

Your greatest vulnerability might be exactly where you think you're strongest. Overconfidence in yourself opens the door to temptation, but confidence in Christ keeps you secure. Don't fall into Peter's trap—watch this powerful reminder about spiritual humility.

It’s almost time to celebrate!

Connect Church is turning 11!

For 11 years, we’ve watched God change lives, build His Church, and continually lead us into what’s next. And this year, our birthday celebration includes some BIG NEWS for our Brantley Campus!

As we approach one year of ministry in Brantley we’re stepping into a new chapter with new leadership and the same mission.

We’re excited to welcome Austin and Sheldyn Stephens as our new Brantley Campus Pastors!

On Sunday, September 13 at 10:30 AM, we’ll celebrate 11 years of Connect Church AND officially install them as Campus Pastors.

Same mission. Same DNA. New leadership.

Whether you’ve been part of Connect for years, recently joined us in Brantley, or you’re simply looking for a church to call home we would love for you to celebrate with us.

Come celebrate what God has done and step with us into what He’s about to do NEXT!

Your greatest victories aren't behind you—they're ahead! Don't let yesterday's spiritual wins make you complacent today. God has incredible things planned for your future, your marriage, your family, and your calling. The best is yet to come!

Temptation is inevitable, but failure is not. It's not about your willpower — it's about God's faithfulness. Here's what that means for your life.

Sermon Recap:

Christlike in a Christless Culture: Christlike Witness

1 Corinthians 10:1-15

“Temptation is inevitable. Failure is not.”

You may not choose the temptation, but God always give you a choice in the temptation

Spiritual experiences do not make you spiritually untouchable.

1.) Yesterday’s victory doesn’t remove today’s vulnerability.
1 Corinthians 10:1-5
- The rear view mirror = Yesterday’s victory. Past grace. “Remember when God moved.”
- The windshield = Today’s obedience. Present gratitude. Keep following Him through the wilderness
- Yesterday’s manna cannot feed today’s obedience.

2.) Temptation has patterns.
1 Corinthians 10:6-10
- Idolatry = When something takes God’s place. The Modern Calf: Career, Approval, Comfort, Ministry
- Immorality = When desire becomes our master. The lie: “If you desire it, you deserve it.”
- Presumption = Testing Christ. The question: “How close can I get to the cliff without falling?”
- Grumbling = When discontentment becomes distrust. The accusation: “God, what you’ve provided isn’t enough.”

3.) Overconfidence creates an open door.
1 Corinthians10:11-12
- Know your doors: You don’t wait until the house is burning to decide where the exits are. When are you most vulnerable?

4.) God always provides a way out
1 Corinthians 10:13-15
- Stop hiding what needs healing. You are not the only one.
- Temptation never gets ultimate authority. The enemy’s access is restricted.
- Turn it off. Leave the room. Stop going there. Run.

3 directions to look:
- look back: Learn from Israel. Don’t repeat patterns God has already exposed.
- Look within: Where are you vulnerable? What is becoming an idol? Know your doors.
- Look up: Our confidence isn’t “I’m strong enough.” Our confidence is “God is faithful.”

Where are you standing?
- The pattern: you haven’t fallen, but you’re playing too close to the cliff. Today is your opportunity to move.
- The battle: you are actively fighting temptation, perhaps in secret. Bring it into the light. You don’t have to fight alone.
- The fallen: you missed the exit. Shame says it’s over. But Jesus gives grace to the surrendered. Run to Him.
