My, oh my—how far we’ve come! Our First Church garden is well underway serving our community neighbors alongside New Britain ROOTS 🫜👩🏼‍🌾

The First Harvest of the Season! 🍅

“Earlier this year, First Church of Christ in New Britain began a beautiful partnership with NB Roots, a local urban agriculture organization committed to empowering residents and students to grow their own produce and ensure food access for all.

Together, we launched something new—a shared garden rooted in love and service. This partnership marks a first-of-its-kind relationship between a faith community and a non-religious organization in our city. In these uncertain times, when so much feels fragile, we felt called to dig deep—literally and spiritually—to embody the words of Ephesians 3:17: to be rooted and grounded in love.

Today, we celebrate the first fruits of that labor: our very first tomato! 🌱🍅

It may seem small, but every harvest begins with one seed, one sprout, one act of care. This tomato reminds us that growth takes time, that community takes tending, and that God’s abundance often starts in humble ways.

Let us continue to plant hope, nourish our neighbors, and grow in love—together.

Our Carillon concert with Margaret Angelini — Celebrating the People, a tribute to America's 250th anniversary — has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 8 from 6:00–7:00 PM.

Same gorgeous music. Same extraordinary performer. A brand new date to mark on your calendars.
