We are in constant prayer on your behalf. We offer you encouragement, wisdom and a hand to hold onto. We’ve been in your shoes, we can be a light in the darkness for you. If you are a survivor, join us. We need your wisdom, compassion and experience to help others. It is said that God can take something bad and turn it into something beautiful. Take that Illness journey experience and turn it into something beautiful to give glory to God. If you are a caregiver or loved one who has someone that has cancer or other serious diseases join us. The Diocese of Salford has officially opened the cause for the beatification and canonization of Pedro Ballester, a Manchester student who died from cancer at just 21. This formal step marks the beginning of an investigation into his life and holiness, potentially making him the Catholic Church’s first saint from the Gen Z generation. "We are pleased to announce the opening of the Cause for the Beatification and Canonisation of Pedro Ballester, a young Manchester man whose life of faith and witness continues to inspire many," the diocese stated, highlighting the profound impact of his short but faithful life.

A chemical engineering student and dedicated member of Opus Dei, Ballester’s journey was marked by a courageous battle with aggressive pelvic cancer that began shortly after he started university. Despite his suffering, he remained an "athlete of love," famously offering his pain for the Church and the Pope. His funeral at Holy Name Church was attended by hundreds and led by the future Cardinal Arthur Roche, signaling the widespread recognition of his "heroic virtue" and his growing reputation as a modern model of joy in the face of adversity.

While the Blessed Virgin Mary has appeared many times throughout history, apparitions of St. Joseph are rarer—yet profoundly moving. He comes quietly, protectively, always pointing us to Jesus and Mary.

Here are some of the most notable occasions:

✨ Cotignac, France – June 7, 1660

The only Church-approved solo apparition of St. Joseph. On a scorching day, 22-year-old shepherd Gaspard Ricard was dying of thirst. A tall, noble man appeared and said:

“I am Joseph. Lift this rock and you will drink.”
Gaspard obeyed — and a miraculous spring gushed forth! Eight men later could barely move the same rock. The spring still flows today, bringing healing and devotion to the Holy Family. The site is a recognized sanctuary.

✨ Knock, Ireland – August 21, 1879

During a pouring rain, 15 witnesses saw a silent heavenly tableau on the gable of the parish church: Our Lady, St. Joseph (bowing respectfully toward her), St. John the Evangelist, and the Lamb of God on an altar with angels. No words were spoken — the image itself was the message of consolation during famine and persecution. Fully Church-approved.

✨ Fatima, Portugal – October 13, 1917

During the Miracle of the Sun, as 70,000 people watched, St. Joseph appeared with the Child Jesus beside Our Lady. Both blessed the world with the Sign of the Cross. Sister Lucia later described it as a powerful sign of St. Joseph’s protection over the Church in difficult times.

St. Joseph also appeared with Jesus and Mary in the approved apparitions at Itapiranga, Brazil (1994–1998), encouraging devotion to his Most Chaste Heart.
Why does he appear?

✅ St. Teresa of Ávila, who had many personal visions of him, wrote: “I know by experience that the glorious St. Joseph helps us in all kinds of necessities… To other saints, Our Lord seems to have given the grace to help us in some particular necessity. But this glorious saint, I know by experience, helps us in every need.”

He is the model of silent strength, chaste love, and total trust in God’s Providence.

🙏 St. Joseph, Guardian of the Holy Family, Terror of Demons, and Protector of the Universal Church — pray for us! Help us to live as you did: in humble obedience, quiet courage, and tender love for Jesus and Mary. 🌹
