Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Amen.

"If they are confronted with the question 'Do you want to go see Bad Bunny or do you want to go to see the pope?' I think many will see Bad Bunny. But I think there will also be a few here to see the pope. And that says something, you know." Pope Leo XIV

In a powerful display of faith, over 1.2 million people filled the streets of Madrid on Sunday for Pope Leo XIV’s Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi.

The American pontiff presided over the open-air celebration in Plaza de Cibeles, honoring Spain’s rich tradition of religious devotion as a living “school of faith” for the world.

The highlight? A breathtaking evening procession over elaborate flower-petal carpets made from more than 30,000 blooms in the Vatican’s yellow and white colors. Pope Leo carried the Blessed Sacrament in a gilded monstrance, walking the route as children scattered petals and the massive crowd joined in this ancient act of popular piety.

In his homily, the Holy Father challenged Europe to remember its Christian roots:
“Is it seriously possible to believe that Europe — which we deeply love — would be the same without the influence of faith?”

He pointed to Christianity’s profound contributions to art, culture, schools, hospitals, and institutions built by believers motivated by their love for Christ. He urged that Spain’s deep religiosity not remain a “museum of the past,” but continue inspiring the present and future.

This visit — the first papal trip to Spain in 15 years — comes amid a secularizing society, yet the enormous turnout (following 600,000 at Saturday’s youth vigil) shows a hunger for faith, especially among the young. The day also featured flamenco, classical guitar, and a moving reflection by actor Antonio Banderas.
