When someone survives an overdose, that moment can become a turning point — but only if support shows up quickly, compassionately, and without judgment.

That’s why after an overdose occurs, a harm reduction specialist, a clergy member, and an outreach officer conduct a follow-up visit at the individual’s home as soon as possible. During these visits, the team meets people where they are — physically, emotionally, and mentally — and offers judgment-free support, resources, and connections to services that can help save and rebuild lives.

The NBPD is proud to partner with Seven Hills Foundation and ICCGNB on these follow-up visits. By bringing together public safety, healthcare, and faith-based support, we’re taking a collaborative approach rooted in compassion and care.

This work is so important because the hours and days after an overdose are critical. Individuals and families may feel overwhelmed, scared, or unsure of what to do next. A caring, coordinated response can reduce the risk of another overdose, connect someone to treatment or recovery services, and remind them that they are not alone.

It starts with relationships. It starts with trust. And it starts with showing up.

Together, we are working to turn moments of crisis into opportunities for hope, healing, and a path forward
