Jesus has completed his earthly task and given himself up as the final blood sacrifice for mankind. Thank Him.

We call this day "Good Friday." It was the day that Jesus beaten beyond recognition, stripped of his clothes, paraded through a crowd who laughed, jeered, mocked and spit at him as he stumbled and fell with the weight of the cross that he carried until he was so weak, someone had to help carry it to the place he would be nailed to it, to watch and wait for his death. He was placed between two criminals, also mocking him until at least the one understood who he was. Even in that horrible suffering, Jesus forgave. The weight he carried that day was more than the cross. The shame he bore that daywas not his own. The nails in his flesh was not what kept him there. It was MY sin that he carried. It was YOUR sin that he carried. It was MY shame and YOUR shame he willingly took on. It was HIS love that held him there. His love, for the people who were spitting on him and calling him names. His love for the people crying out for him to die! His love for the people who beat him. His love for the people killing him. It is GOOD Friday, because He paid OUR debt to save US!! That crowd did not realize it then. Do YOU? If you do, then thank Him and return that love. If you don't, then accept Him. Let him change you. Let Him love you with the love He already has for you. Make today a truly GOOD Friday!

With Judas' plan complete, this Wednesday before Jesus death sees Jesus and the disciples having dinner at Simon the lepers house. After dinner, it was customary to recline and fellowship. Lazarus' sister Mary broke open a VERY expensive bottle of perfumed oil and anointed Jesus' feet, wiping them with her hair in an act of such tender love. The disciples, including Judas, were critical of this extravagance, saying that the oil could have been sold and used to feed the poor. Jesus defended her act of love, because He knew. He knew of the betrayal. He knew of His eminent death. He knew his body would need anointing. He knew. My friend, He KNOWS too. He knows your struggles, He knows your hurt, He knows the pain you deal with. He knows how devoted and obedient you are to Him. Take the time to talk to Him and tell Him about your life. He wants you to know that He knows.

The Tuesday before Jesus death was the day that Judas met with the Sanhedren, the Jewish leaders, and agreed to give them Jesus in exchange for 30 pieces of silver. It is not known his motivation for this betrayal; some say greed, some say a misguided desire to bring the 2 "sides" together to work things out. His motivation was unimportant. His realization of his betrayal and overwhelming grief and shame of this moment of his life lead not only to his own death, but the death of Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb of God. Take a moment in your own life to embrace this powerful gift of love that changes lives still today.

It was on Holy Monday when Jesus Christ walked to Jerusalem from Bethany. During his journey, he saw a fruitless fig tree. He cast a curse on this tree until it withered and bore fruits. He immediately told his disciples that if they had enough faith, they could make the tree wither and even make the mountains move.

As human beings, I'm sure the celebration of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem made the disciples feel like a breakthrough. After 3 years of working and witnessing, the World was finally getting the message and would turn to their Savior, the Messiah, Jesus. But Jesus knew. He knew all that God had done for these people was quickly forgotten. He knew that they only praised Him because they thought he was going to rescue them; for what He could do for THEM. He knew all the sorrow, betrayal, and death that awaited Him. He knew. And yet, He continued. He loved us so much, He continued. Don't be like that crowd. Love Him and praise Him today, not because of what He can do for YOU. Love Him because He loves you enough to continue with God's plan to rescue YOU. HOSANNA in the highest!! Start this week's journey with us by celebrating Jesus' coming with His people!
