Please join us for the 46th Annual Greene County Historical Society's Tour of Homes on Saturday, June 6th from 10am to 4pm. The New Baltimore Reformed Church will be providing bag lunches for a $10.00 donation. We are located at 52 Church St. New Baltimore NY 12124. We also have restrooms available.
For 46 years, the Greene County Historical Society’s Annual Tour of Homes has been a beloved annual tradition, drawing visitors from near and far to experience the rich history and charm of our towns. Thanks to the generosity of our local homeowners allowing the public into their homes, the tour offers a rare opportunity to step inside remarkable examples of historic architecture.
This year’s Tour of Homes brings us to the Town of New Baltimore, a picturesque countryside community founded in 1811 along the Hudson River. Like many towns in Greene County, New Baltimore has long welcomed settlers and travelers, and its story is deeply woven into the broader history of the region.
The 46th Annual Tour of Homes will be held on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will showcase the diverse heritage and geography of the Town of New Baltimore. Down by the river in the hamlet, ship building and river commerce were the major industries; in the surrounding countryside agriculture was, and in many cases still is the focus. Tour sites will include a range of locations from the river to the hills and from hamlet to farm.
Tour headquarters will be at the New Baltimore Town Hall, a beautiful adaptation of the former Rocky Store School, located on County Route 51, approximately one mile west of Route 9W. Parking is available in front of the building.
At headquarters, tour tickets as well as those ordered in advance can be picked up on June 6. Tickets are $30 the day of the tour and $25 in advance. Participants will receive a brochure with information about the sites along with a marked route map. To reserve advance sale tickets visit gchistory.org/home-tour or send a check payable to GCHS to: Greene County Historical Society, P.O. Box 44, Coxsackie, NY 12051.
New this year and included in the price of your ticket, Greene County Historian Jonathan Palmer will be at one of the stops giving a special cemetery tour!
Box lunches will be for sale at the New Baltimore Reformed Church in the hamlet as long as they last. The tour will be held rain or shine.
This is the Greene County Historical Society’s major fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale of tour tickets support the Society, the Bronck Museum and the Vedder Research Library. For more information contact Jennifer Barnhart at [email protected].
