St John 4:12 A resource that allows the members of St John's UCC, New Athens, Illinois to stay up to date on activities and events planned for our youth and children.

Christian Education at St John UCC in New Athens includes classes for age 2 though Jr high and high school. Classes are Sunday mornings at 9:00am. Kids age 2-kindergarten and kids in Jr high have set classes, while children in 1st-5th grade are part of a rotation model. Each Sunday morning begins with a gathering time under our tent (located in the Sunday school area in the basement of St John Chu

rch. The same Bible story is taught for 4 or 5 weeks in a row in a variety of bible workshops that have been created in our rotation. The kids at St John rotate through a computer lab, drama and music room, the movie room (complete with hot popcorn, projection tv and surround sound), a game room and craft room (which sometimes includes cooking). In each setting they learn about the same Bible story in a new way. At St John's the rotation program has been an amazing difference in Christian education. The kids are exposed to new and exciting experiences each week, and our teachers are able to teach the same lesson to different age groups weekly. In the rotation our teachers teach for 3 weeks, then are off 3 week only to come back to teaching lessons with a fresh outlook!! St John UCC offers a 2 year confirmation program, which prepares our young people in Jr high for full membership in Christ's church. Classes meet in the confirmation class room in the basement of St John's each Sunday at 9:00am. Our post-confirmation class meets at 9:00am each Sunday this class is for high school students and jr high students who have completed confirmation. Parents can drop off students and are welcome to then attend our 9:15 contemporary worship service with Pastor Koch. Youth Group at St John is called stjohn 4:12 and is lead by the students. 4:12 sessions are planned throughout the year for students in 6th-12th grade. We invite anyone interested in our Christian education to join us on Sunday mornings or contact the church office with any questions. Help us help others! Tomorrow when you drop off your child at VBS we will be collecting donations for CESNA's blessings in a backpack & school supplies.

It's our favorite time of year!!! VBS pre-registration is now open!!

Students 3 yrs-5th grade are invited on a Road Trip with our pup pal Scout, as we discover that God is always with us!

VBS is free and open to our community!!

Thursday night we will invite parents and family to a VBS closing at 8pm.

This Sunday is our annual "Picnic in the Park" grab your lawn chair and a drink and join us for worship followed by burgers, hot dogs and potluck meal!
