We had a great Christmas Eve service. It is always special to light the Christ candle from the center of the Advent Wreath and to sing Silent Night together with our individual candles. Jesus said I am the true light who has come into the world. All are welcome to join us for Sunday Worship at 10am. Hope to see you there!

When Jesus fed the five thousand from a boys lunch of five loaves of bread and two small fish he proved he can make a lot out of a little. We may not feel like we have a lot to offer God, but we do. Everyone who gathered to hear Jesus that day had their fill. The disciples gathered twelve baskets of bread left over. Miracles happen when we offer ourselves in service to God. He takes what we offer and mutiplies it. From John 6:1-14.

Sundays Message, "My Hometown." Mark 6:1-6

Jesus did not receive the warmest reception when returning to his hometown of Nazareth. Most could not picture Jesus as anything other than a carpenter and the son of Jospeh and Mary who grew up before them. They could not accept him as the prophet, shepherd, and king he truly was. Jesus said, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown." Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith. May we recognize Jesus as our Savior and respond to the message of salvation he offers us. If you do not have a home church, you are welcome to join us at Silver St. UMC at our 10am service. All are welcome!

Time Passages

The melodic and reflective song “Time Passages” by Al Stewart got a lot of play to and from my trips to Spring Arbor University years ago. By definition time refers to a measurable quantity of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
It’s amazing how quickly days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years. You look back and wonder, “Where has the time gone?”
I have reflected back on some of the churches I have served. Places I learned about fishing, hymn sings, agriculture, sawmills, Hoosier basketball hysteria, and about the hardworking, close-knit people of small-town rural communities. Thankfully, my first church I served in English, IN has now doubled in size, has added an addition, and seems thriving.
Remembering can bring both happiness and longing. As Al Stewart wrote, “Well just now and then your line gets caught in these time passages.” He was right when he wrote, “The days go too slow, and the years too fast… years go falling in the fading light, buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight.” May God be with you as fondly remember the days gone past, as you linger in the days you are in, and as you bravely look forward to the days ahead. God was and is present in all of them.

God Bless,

Pastor Kent

The apostle Paul had great faith. He healed many people in Jesus name yet he had a thorn in his flesh, an undefined illness he never had healing from even though he desperately sought it. The Lord spoke to Paul saying "My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness." These words brought Paul both comfort and strength. May these words also give us strength for those thorns in your life, whatever they may be. . 2 Corinthians 12:1-10..

Sunday Message, "The Divine Physician." Mark 5: 21-43. We all know the pains of not feeling well. Thankfully, there are many trained and caring physicians that can facilitate healing in our bodies and minds. While he walked the earth, Jesus performed many miracles, many times in private. He completely restored individuals who sought his healing. Jesus is our divine physician who can help bring healing to us. I pray we can seek and know his care as the one who can restore us, and loves us.
