June 19 Devotional
The Father of Mercies

Scripture:
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.”
2 Corinthians 1:3

Devotional:
Our Heavenly Father is not harsh, distant, or unmoved by what His children face. Scripture calls Him the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. His heart is full of compassion, and He draws near when we are hurting, discouraged, or carrying burdens that feel too heavy.

A godly man may feel pressure to remain strong and hide his struggles, but true strength includes knowing when to lean on the Father. God invites us to bring Him our pain, disappointment, weakness, and uncertainty. His mercy meets us where we are, and His comfort gives us strength to keep moving forward.

The comfort God gives is not meant to stop with us. A man who has experienced the Father’s mercy can extend that same mercy to others. He can listen with patience, forgive with grace, encourage the weary, and help carry the burdens of those around him.

Today, remember that you do not have to face life alone. The Father of mercies sees your heart, understands your pain, and offers comfort that the world cannot give. Receive His mercy, rest in His presence, and allow His compassion to flow through you to others.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Meet me in every place where I feel weary or burdened. Help me receive Your compassion and extend that same mercy, patience, and comfort to those around me. Amen.

Isaiah 7:

14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 11:

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Malachi 3:

“Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
Will suddenly come to His temple,
Even the Messenger of the covenant,
In whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

Micah 5:

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”

Zechariah 9:

9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A c**t, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
And the horse from Jerusalem;
The battle bow shall be cut off.
He shall speak peace to the nations;
His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.’

The enemy may still come after you, but here's what you need to know — he's already been defeated. 👑 When Jesus said 'It is finished,' He meant it. The cross wasn't a tragedy, it was a triumph.

**Train Up a Child**

**Scripture:**
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
**Proverbs 22:6**

**Devotional:**
The guidance we give today can shape the faith of tomorrow. Proverbs reminds us that children need direction, instruction, and steady examples to help them walk in the way of the Lord. A godly legacy is built through faithful teaching, patient correction, and a life that points others toward God.

A godly man understands that his example speaks loudly. Children and those watching his life learn from more than his words. They learn from his patience, his prayers, his humility, his forgiveness, and the way he follows God when life is hard.

Training up a child is not about control. It is about lovingly guiding the heart toward truth. It is showing them what it means to trust God, honor His Word, and walk in wisdom. It is planting seeds of faith that the Father can continue to grow over time.

Today, ask God for wisdom to influence the next generation well. Whether through fatherhood, mentoring, teaching, or simply living faithfully before others, your walk with God can help point someone else toward the path of life.

**Prayer:**
Father, give me wisdom to lead, teach, and encourage others in Your truth. Help my words and actions reflect Your love. Let my life plant seeds of faith that continue to grow and point others toward You. Amen.

Psalm 16:

7 I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 110:

1 The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

Matthew 22:

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?”

They said to Him, “The Son of David.”

43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:

44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’?

45 If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?” 46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

**A Heritage from the Lord**

**Scripture:**
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
**Psalm 127:3**

**Devotional:**
Children are not simply responsibilities to manage. They are gifts entrusted by God. Psalm 127 reminds us that children are a heritage from the Lord, a blessing placed in our lives with purpose, love, and eternal value.

A godly man understands that the people God places in his care are not burdens, but blessings. Whether he is a father, grandfather, mentor, teacher, or spiritual leader, he has the opportunity to speak life, model faith, and help shape hearts for the Lord.

Godly leadership in a family is not measured only by provision, but by presence. It is shown through patience, prayer, instruction, protection, forgiveness, and love. A man who sees his family as a gift from God will lead with gratitude instead of pride, and with care instead of control.

Today, thank the Father for the people He has entrusted to your life. Ask Him for wisdom to love them well, guide them faithfully, and point them toward His heart.

**Prayer:**
Father, thank You for the gift of family and for every life You entrust to our care. Help me to lead with wisdom, patience, gratitude, and love. Teach me to value what You have given and to reflect Your heart in the way I serve others. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 2:

13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

2 Timothy 2:

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Colossians 3:

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Hebrews 4:

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Isaiah 55:

11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
