SHARING THE GOSPEL

Some don't want to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ because...

1. IT FEELS LIKE JUDGEMENT

“And this is the judgement, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:19)

2. IT FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE IT SHINES A LIGHT ON DARKNESS AND HOW WE FALL SHORT

“For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” (John 3:20)

3. IT HIGHLIGHTS A NEED FOR CHANGE

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19)

4. IT PRICKS THE HEART

“Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’” (Acts 2:37)

5. IT THREATENS OUR THINKING, ADDICTIONS AND IDOLS

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

But the gospel is not bad news nor is it a message of condemnation. It literally means GOOD NEWS and it is a message of SALVATION (being saved from hell).

SALVATION for ALL.

The gospel is not judgment and condemnation.

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:17)

So Jesus didn't come to condemn the world. In fact, by one man's sin...Adam...we were condemned ALREADY.

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

God sent Jesus to SAVE the world...save us from the penalty of sin. "For the wages of sin is death (what we earned) but the free GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

Being saved from hell...I'd say THAT'S GOOD NEWS!

We do not share the gospel from SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS. For we all fall short of his righteousness (so no one is perfect).

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

The gospel highlights how we fall short...not to judge but to raise awareness of our NEED for salvation.

So, if you are unsaved or sharing the gospel, humble yourselves. If you are unsaved, let go of your self-righteouness and put on true righteousness. Don't let stubborn pride stand in the way of eternal life.

No...conviction doesn't feel good. Letting go of the things we love to do, doesn't feel good. But Jesus says, "the day you hear my voice, harden not your heart." Hebrews 3:15 💖

That He "stands at the door and knocks" but you have to choose to let Him in. Revelation 3:20 🚪

That if you "confess your sin He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you of all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 🚿

That "JESUS GLOW" ✨️ is real but it's better than that...it's blessings, favor, and eternal life, too. 👏 🙌

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

The fact that Jesus made the first move and died for our sins...that all we have to do is repent (change our minds, believe, and follow Christ)...that he will forgive us of all of our sins and that we will spend eternity with Him...that's GOOD NEWS!

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) ✝️

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19) ✍️ ❌️

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) 🗣 ❤️ 🙌

THAT'S GOOD NEWS! Be excited to receive it. Be excited to share it! 📰 🏃🏾‍♀️

For “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:15

Make the Shift

A single lens will ruin a marriage.

Marriage requires a shift in mindset, words and behavior. You think different, talk different and move different.

It's OUR house. OUR kids. OUR money. OUR future.

It's respect, transparency and communication.

It's thoughtfulness and consideration.

It's compromise and sometimes sacrifice.

It's contributing to, aligning with, and submitting to the vision.

It's swallowing pride.

It's leaving and cleaving.

It's a lot of things single solo dolo didn't require.

Make sure you make the shift.

Proverbs 12:25 says "anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad."

Many worries are in a man's heart but our words have the power to uplift. Through our words, we have the power to share kindness, affirmation, encouragement and good news. With just a few kind words, you can change a person's day, encourage their faith and even save a life.

As you encounter people each day, whether at work, the grocery store, school, church or the comment section of social media, remember to be kind. Words matter.

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

Proverbs 3:5 says to trust in the Lord with all your heart.

To trust in someone is to put something valuable in their hands because we feel confident in their ability to deliver, to protect, and to keep. What a place of vulnerability and surrender.

Who better to trust with our future than the one who knows the plans He has for us? He knows the end from the beginning. So, whatever you're facing, just seek Him and trust Him. Say, "I trust you, Lord." Let go of fear, doubt and pride and say "Lord, I don't know, but you know and I trust you." "Lord, where you lead me, I will follow." "Lord, I can't do it but you can."

Remember, our trust is not in man or our own knowledge and ability but in a mighty and good God full of power, wisdom, grace and love.

Folks who know me, know I am a Marvel movie fan! I also love Star Wars and the occasional DC movie.

One of the always common themes is a struggle between good and evil and a super human being full of power and humanity that comes to save mankind from evil oppression, bo***ge, chaos and death.

Same script, yet we love to see it! I know I do!

But before there was Marvel or DC comics and Star Wars trilogies about evil empires, Jedi knights and the Force, there was the greatest story ever told...the best to ever do it...the epic story of God's plan to save mankind from death and destruction. Our hero, God the Father. God the Son. God the Holy Spirit.

Included in this story, Adam, Eve, Moses, Abraham, Sarah, a host of kings, prophets, bad guys, Mary, Joseph, a faithful band of disciples, a traitor, factions, a resistance and you and me.

Using my movie trailer voice...In a world that began before there was even a galaxy far far away. A story that began before time and the foundation of the Earth. Comes a Savior, a King and a Kingdom advancing against darkness.

And this story is true.

From "Lead Like Jesus"

A New Way of Leading: Community

Jesus lived life with His disciples as one of them. He didn’t exalt Himself, even though He was God, He simply lived in relationship with His disciples and pursued God’s call on His life. Knowing that He was there to serve them allowed Him to teach, lead, correct, and serve them as needed, all within the context of a deep and selfless love for them. He wants us to do the same, to pour ourselves out for others at their point of need, as He did.

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
—John 13:14-15

Prayer: Jesus, I see You wash Your disciples’ feet. I hear You call me to follow Your example. Help me to serve those I lead today, meeting them at their point of need, and serving them without regard to position. May my leadership create true community, a community that reflects Your presence and example. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
