First Light at First Nederland Rooted in Christian faith, SHIFT guides young participants through their grief with compassionate support and understanding.

**First Light Ministry - First Baptist Church Nederland**

Welcome to the First Light Ministry, a compassionate and supportive community under the First Baptist Church of Nederland. Our mission is to provide a beacon of hope and healing for individuals navigating the challenging journey of grief, tailored specifically for children, teenagers, and adults.

**For Kids - Growing Seasons**
First Light offers a free peer support group designed for children from Kindergarten through Grade 6. Led by trained facilitators, this 13-week program helps young hearts navigate the complexities of grief, addressing life changes, forgiveness, and understanding. Our goal is to emphasize the constant love and presence of the Heavenly Father, even during times of crisis.

**For Teenagers - SHIFT (Hope for Grieving)**
SHIFT is our dedicated grief support program for teenagers coping with the loss of a family member, friend, or loved one. We aim to offer hope and healing, helping them manage the complexities of their emotions and find strength in their faith.

**For Adults - GriefShare**
Our GriefShare support group creates a safe and understanding environment for adults who are navigating through grief. Over the course of 13 weeks, participants learn about the common experiences and expectations associated with grief. The group provides strategies to cope with the unpredictable nature of grief, offering consistent support throughout the journey. Join us at First Light Ministry as we walk together towards healing and hope. Often I am asked why I began First Light. My answer is easy, children/teens grieve and I want them to know they are not alone. Watching the children/teens in our groups confirms my answer. Children/Teens need each other to share their feelings and grow in the acceptance of their new normal. They realize they are not alone and that is so comforting. We want to provide a safe place for these children/teens and offer them tools to aid them as they go through their grief process. First Light offers free grief groups for all ages. Our Adult group is just one of the 3 programs we have. If you or someone you know have lost a love one and is walking through the journey of grief, we would like to be a support to you. Registration is now open and our groups begin Monday, October 26th. We will meet at First Baptist Church for 13 weeks on Mondays from 6:00-7:30. All groups (adults, teens and kids) meet at the same time.
