Prayer needs to be scheduled and spontaneous. Long and short. I would suggest that our scheduled long prayers give power to our spontaneous short prayers. Prayer is about a relationship with God. Not a Santa Clause cure all.
How often do we pray only after we’ve exhausted every other option?👀🫣
We analyze every possibility.
Ask everyone for advice.
Try to fix it ourselves.
Replay the situation until we’re overwhelmed.
Then, when none of that works, we finally pray.🙏
I’ve done this more times in my life than I’d like to admit!
It’s not that planning, seeking wisdom, or taking action is wrong.
The problem is when we do all of it independently of God…and only turn to Him once we realize we can’t carry it ourselves.
Prayer was never meant to be our last resort‼️
It’s how we acknowledge from the beginning:
“God, I need Your wisdom.”
“I need You to guide my decisions.”
“I need Your peace before anything changes.”
“I need Your strength for whatever comes next.”
The Bible tells us to, “pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 📖
That doesn’t mean we spend every moment with our eyes closed.
It means we live with an ongoing awareness of our need for God - in the ordinary moments as much as the emergencies!
👉BEFORE the decision.
👉BEFORE the conversation.
👉BEFORE the worry takes over.
👉BEFORE we attempt to carry it alone.
Prayer before panic.
Dependence before desperation.🤎✝️
