Looking back on my time as an itinerant minister, I realize there may have been times I caused problems for the pastor or for the church. I apologize for that. Ministry should never have a personal agenda. It should always be Kingdom focused, and it should always honor the people receiving the ministry.

Sitting here today thinking about leadership and discipleship. Here are a few simple yet important thoughts about a leader.

1. A leader will see who a person can become and not just see who they are currently.
2. A leader will be willing to walk with a person along the journey toward their true destiny.
3. A leader will willingly utilize his resources to help a person reach their destiny.
4. A leader will have a genuine desire that those he is leading will accomplish more and go further than he goes.
5. A leader will recognize when it is time to release a person into his purpose. A leader will not hold a person back by holding on to him too long.
6. A leader will realize he can learn from those he is leading.
