Pastor Rob’s weekly letter and announcements.

Dear Friends,
Sometimes you have to be creative in hearing Jesus.
Many of us grew-up during great revolution in christian faith. The
revolution was a explosive creation of new translations of
scripture. When the RSV first appeared, a church member
approached me totally upset. “We don’t need it. If the King
James was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.”
I’ve read this week’s scripture in many translations. Each helped
me hear different accents of Jesus’ message. By doing so, I’ve
learned to look differing aspects in the experience.
In Jesus’ day, true faith was determined by keeping rules, laws,
accounts. It translated salvation into race, schools of faith,
blessings this world deems important. In Jesus’ day, 7 times was
the Forgiving Law. Jesus changes all that.
What do you hear him say? I hear, “Life is more important than
rules: whatever it takes restoring Life; strengthening relationship.
As far; as often; as much as God forgives us, we must forgive.”
To “Forgive” doesn’t mean whatever is done is okay; it means
helping a person re-discover God’s dream for them…just as God
does for you and me.
Sunday gives us opportunity to Thank God for God’s Goodness
to us in Jesus. He meets us where we are and says, “Work on this

beans! As part of our Communion Offering next Sunday, please
bring what you can for our Food Closet.

COMMUNION for those who worship at home begins again in
September on Thursday following Communion Sunday. If you
know someone who would want/benefit from this ministry, please
speak with Pastor Rob.

LUNCH BAG MINISTRY - supporting Ranch Hope in Galloway,
NJ, should be returned at Labor Day. This mission of our church
offers help to NJ Youth. Thank You for doing your best in Christ’s
name.
