In 1909, Bishop Cornelius Van de Ven formed the Apostleship of Prayer League of the Sacred Heart for the Catholic students attending the State Normal School in Natchitoches, LA. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center. On Feb. 11, 1968, Bishop Greco established Holy Cross as a non-territorial parish for campus ministry at Northwestern State University. Holy Cross is the only campus ministry parish in the Diocese of Alexandria of Louisiana.
