Nashville Organized for Action and Hope (NOAH)
There are now 54 Nashville churches and other organizations that are members of NOAH and we are making a difference. Mayor Megan Barry is keeping her promise to meet with NOAH quarterly and her staff is working toward supporting our goals. u. You can participate in one of the three task forces by attending a meeting:
Affordable Housing Task Force: Current efforts are focused more on workforce housing. NOAH is requesting a plan with measureable goals for low income housing, as well. Plan should include an early warning system for those whose rent will escalate due to development. Economic Equity and Jobs Task Force: Need tax incentives in place for investors to hire local workers. NOAH is joining forces with other organizations such as TURK, Iron Workers, Workers Dignity, and others to apply for a grant and get developers to agree on a set of standards. Criminal Justice Task Force: School Board Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, & 9 are up for re-election. A strategy is needed to address disparity in discipline problems in schools. NOAH will host an event in each district to determine which candidates will support the NOAH platform.
