September 6, 2026. When We Pray Together - Peace Can Be Found

Unity is moving into the week of World Day of Prayer, and as Unity World Headquarters is observing and many other Unity Churches and Centers, Unity of Nashville will be celebrating in our own way.

We begin this week by focusing on how to become a Living Prayer of Peace. Join us today and throughout this week as our Prayer Chaplains and Voices in Unity assist us in Becoming a Living Prayer of Peace.

Tuesday: Feeling Peace
Wednesday: Speaking Peace
Thursday: Acting Peace
Friday: Creating Peace
Saturday: Sharing Peace

once upon a garden
where no one was looking
a little yellow dandelion
opened her face to the sky
she was bright as the sun
small but brazen
and she beamed
even when the mower
came rumbling
children saw her first
they crouched close
sticky fingers brushing her petals
whispering "you’re pretty"
but the grown-ups
shook their heads
“it’s just a w**d”
they said
and they sprayed
and they stomped
and they never said
“thank you”
still
she grew
she turned her face
through rain
and wind
and the muddy silence
of being unloved
and when her yellow crown
grew tired
she folded inward
then opened again
round and silver and soft
a moon
right there in the grass
she did not shine anymore
she glowed
and no one saw it
except the children
and the bees
and the breeze
who told her
“it’s time”
so she let go
one by one
her pieces took flight
white-winged stars
wishes in search of breath
some tangled playfully
in wind-kissed hair
some landed
on the jeweled wings
of hummingbirds
some hitched a ride
on the knees of tipsy bees
some flew so far
no one ever knew
where they landed
but each one carried
a hope
a wish
a weensy wand of yes
so if today
you feel like a w**d
something unwanted
growing wild
and unappreciated
in the wrong place
remember the dandelion
who began as a sun
became a moon
and ended as stars
magic
doesn’t always look
the way people expect
sometimes it hides in w**ds
sometimes
it hides in you
