Today's Devotional: Go Ahead Anyway!

In Matthew 14:22, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side. That's an interesting moment because disciples are followers. Their normal pattern was simple: Jesus leads and they follow. But this time, Jesus sends them ahead.

Sometimes God will push us into places we would never choose on our own. Not because He has abandoned us, but because He is preparing us. Growth requires distance. Faith requires movement. Obedience is not always comfortable.

Many of us are waiting until we feel ready. We are waiting until we can see the entire plan. We are waiting until fear disappears. But there are moments when Jesus says, "Start the ministry." "Apply for the job." "Have the conversation." "Take the step." And He says it before He shows you the outcome.

🗣️Here is the good news: Going ahead of Jesus is not the same as going without Jesus. When He sends you, He is already where you are going. He is in your present and your future at the same time. He knows the way because He is the Way.

👉🏾So today, identify one area where God is nudging you forward. Ask yourself: Am I staying where it is safe instead of going where He said go? If Jesus says move, move. If Jesus says launch, launch. If Jesus says go ahead, go ahead.

🗣️Obedience is our job. The outcome is His job.

🙏🏾 Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to trust Your voice more than my fears, Your command more than my comfort, and Your presence more than my understanding. When You send me ahead, remind me that You are already there waiting for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Devotional: “Don't Stay Spiritually Shallow”

As I reflected on yesterday's worship experience and Pastor Glenn's message about the wind, I was reminded of a simple truth: storms can help us grow. God often uses the winds of life to deepen our faith and strengthen our walk with Him.

That led me to this question: Are you growing spiritually, or are you simply attending?

🗣️ One of the greatest dangers in the modern church is confusing attendance with discipleship. You can attend church for years and still never grow. You can serve in ministry and still never grow. Growth requires intention.

The early church in Acts 2 did not stop at salvation. The Bible says they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching. They wanted more than inspiration. They wanted understanding. They studied, they listened, they applied what they learned, and their faith became stronger because their roots became deeper.

Spiritual maturity does not happen accidentally. Nobody accidentally makes straight A's. Nobody accidentally becomes a scholar. In the same way, nobody accidentally becomes a strong disciple of Jesus Christ. Discipleship happens intentionally.

A seed must be watered before it grows. Ingredients must be mixed and placed in the oven before they become a cake. Nothing just happens. Our ministries, our families, our finances, and especially our faith will not reach the next level without intentional growth.

👉🏾 Today, I challenge you to spend 15 minutes in Acts 2:37-47. Ask God, "What are You teaching me? What are You convicting me of?" Then write down one thing He reveals to your heart and pray about it throughout the day.👈🏾

Lord, open our hearts and minds to be intentional about growing in our faith. Give us deeper roots so that when the storms of life come, the winds won't win.

Today's Devotional: "Don't Do Faith Alone"

This morning, as I reflected on all that so many families are facing and carrying right now, the Lord placed this simple truth on my heart: Don't do faith alone.

When I read Acts 2:37-47, one word keeps showing up over and over again: they.

They heard the Word.
They received the Word.
They were baptized.
They continued together.
They shared together.
They grew together.

Nobody in Acts 2 gave their life to Jesus and then decided to walk alone. Their faith was lived in community.

One of the greatest challenges in our culture today is that it is possible to be around people and still be disconnected. You can sit in a crowded sanctuary every Sunday and still not be known. You can attend church faithfully and still try to carry life's burdens by yourself.

But spiritual growth needs community.

A seed cannot grow in isolation. It needs the right environment. It needs water. It needs nourishment. In the same way, our faith grows when we are connected to other believers who pray with us, encourage us, challenge us, and walk alongside us.

This morning, I want to leave you with something I shared on our prayer call:

Rows matter on Sunday, but circles matter during the week.

🗣️We sit in rows for worship, but we grow in circles through relationships, fellowship, prayer, and shared faith.

Life will life you. Grief will come. Challenges will arise. Mental and physical struggles will show up when you least expect them. When those moments come, you need people who know you well enough to pray with you, encourage you, and help you grow spiritually.

👉🏾So here is my question for you today:

Who knows enough about your life to help you grow spiritually?

Not just people who know your business. Not just people who can offer opinions. Who are the people in your life who point you toward God, remind you to pray, encourage you to stay connected, and help strengthen your faith?

Today, reach out to someone. Take a step toward deeper connection. Share a meal. Have a conversation. Pray together. Build relationships that help you grow.

God never intended for us to walk this journey alone.

As we look back on our Mother’s Day 2026 celebration at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, we honor the remarkable women who have shaped our families, communities, churches, and our nation. 💐🖤

We celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, mentors, and spiritual mothers who continue to pour into the next generation. We also stand on the shoulders of trailblazing African women such as Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hamer, Maya Angelou, Shirley Chisholm, Coretta Scott King, Mary McLeod Bethune, Dorothy Height, and countless others whose lives continue to inspire us.

Most importantly, we thank God for the women of Mount Gilead. Your faith, resilience, wisdom, service, and love continue to make a difference every day. We are because you are. ❤️

Today’s Devotional: “The Evidence Is In How You Treat People”

This morning, I was reminded that one of the greatest signs that God is truly working in our lives is not just in what we say, but in how we treat people. Anybody can quote scripture. Anybody can shout on Sunday. But real evidence shows up in our character, our compassion, our patience, and the way we handle one another every day.

When God has truly changed your heart, it ought to show in your actions. The love of God should flow out of us. Grace should flow out of us. Kindness should flow out of us. Some people want overflow in their finances, overflow in opportunities, and overflow in blessings, but I believe God is also looking for overflow in our spirit. Overflow in love. Overflow in forgiveness. Overflow in humility.

You cannot claim to walk closely with God while constantly mistreating people created in His image. The evidence is in how you love people, how you serve people, and how you respond when life tests your spirit.

My prayer today is simple: Lord, let revival begin in me. Let my life reflect You in every conversation, every interaction, and every decision. Help me to treat people right, even when it is difficult, because that is evidence that You are alive and working in me. 🙏🏽

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
