We come together in worship & small groups to grow together, be in service to the community & seek the next steps in this life journey we call our faith. Come as you are this Sunday @ 10am!

"This week we lost another great soul. Though not as well-known as Dolly, Wendell Berry was a prolific writer, a farmer, and environmental activist who loved the land. He sought to live peaceably with all of creation but Berry wasn’t afraid to speak out forcibly on things that mattered including opposing war and the death penalty and fighting to stop coal mining and protect family farms, among other issues.
While I don’t know Berry well enough to preach a whole sermon on him, I do know that he was committed to forgiveness and reconciliation, which is the focus of this week’s gospel text. Berry says in The Art of the Common Place: The Agrarian Essays, “I believe that divine love, incarnate and indwelling in the world, summons the world always toward wholeness, which ultimately is reconciliation and atonement with God.” I appreciate how he describes the work of reconciliation as something that brings us towards wholeness. With that in mind, may we each continue the journey towards wholeness." - Pastor Steph

Luke Morgan (he/him) has entered the chat. And honestly? Glendale is better for it. We’re so glad Luke found us, chose us, and decided we were worthy of being his church fam!

From Luke: “Almost my whole life I struggled with being who God created me to be. I could never fit in, especially when it came to church. I went through years of church hurt, but always overlooked it because I knew I was going to church for God and not for people. Some time after college I stopped going to church for a while because it was hard to be in a place that could fully accept who I was and not be ashamed of it. After longing for a church home, where I could have real community, I remembered Glendale who gave me water my first year at 2024 at pride. Fast forward to the beginning of 2026, I visited Glendale for the first time and fell in love. I felt wanted, accepted, and knew this was a place where I could truly grow in Christ and be who God made me to be. Becoming a member of Glendale is not just about being a member of a church, but I believe it is a step into the calling that God has placed in my life. Giving Him the glory and continuing to love others like Christ. “

Wigs. Glitter. Games. Pizza. A taco bar. And a whole lot of people making room for one another, because if she taught us anything, it’s that there’s always room at the table for everyone. Love like Dolly. Shine like you mean it.

As I considered what I might say about Dolly this week, I realized the scripture I had already chosen for this week fits so well with this woman who strongly believed that we should all be our genuine selves and help out one another when we can. You can’t claim to support the LGB community while abandoning the TQ+. When some pick and choose which people within this community deserve dignity, protection, and belonging, we choose to stand closer.

At Glendale, there’s no political calculation and no selective solidarity.

Transgender and q***r lives are loved and celebrated here. Today. Tomorrow. Always. 🏳️‍⚧️💜🏳️‍🌈

In this week’s text Jesus famously tells Peter, “On this rock I will build my church (Matt 16:18).” Astute readers of the gospels, however, might wonder at this choice. Peter sank in the water from lack of faith (Matt 14:31). In a few verses Jesus will tell Peter, “Get behind me Satan (Matt 16:23).” And, of course, there is the passion story where Peter denies knowing Jesus, not once, but three times (Matt 26:69-75). The evidence is there. You can look it up. Yet, somehow, Jesus sees something else in Peter, not a screw up or a failure, but someone God can use to help build the church–a church that, even through its ups and downs, is still going strong today. If God can use Peter for such an important task, what might be calling each of us to as well?

“I had become disillusioned with the church after a series of un-Christian behaviors at my church prior to college. I have not attended church regularly for decades. My partner Jack introduced me to Glendale just after Easter in 2023. Finally, a church that truly exuded love and caring to EVERYONE! I began volunteering for various Sunday activities and realized this was definitely the church for me. I am thankful to Jack and to God for leading me to Glendale.” - Ron
