✝️ Devotional: It Is Finished!

Scripture:
“When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished,’ and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.” – John 19:30

Reflection:

When Jesus cried out “It is finished!” He declared more than the end of His earthly life—He declared the completion of God’s eternal plan.
1. The Fulfillment of Prophecy – Every Old Testament shadow and promise, from the Passover lamb to Isaiah’s prophecy of the Suffering Servant, was now accomplished in Him.
2. The Completion of Redemption – The Greek word tetelestai means “paid in full.” The debt of sin was fully satisfied through His sacrifice. No more repeated offerings were needed—salvation was secured once and for all.
3. Victory Over Sin, Death, and Satan – What looked like defeat was actually triumph. Colossians 2:15 says Christ disarmed the powers of darkness, breaking their hold over humanity.
4. The End of Separation – At His death, the temple veil tore in two. No longer is man cut off from God—through Jesus, we can enter boldly into His presence.
5. The Fulfillment of His Mission – Jesus came to do the Father’s will and to finish His work. On the cross, He declared that His assignment on earth was perfectly accomplished.
6. Our Rest in His Finished Work – We don’t work for salvation; we rest in it. Hebrews 10:14 reminds us that His one sacrifice made us perfect forever in God’s sight.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for finishing the work I never could. Thank You for fulfilling prophecy, paying my debt, defeating sin and death, removing the veil, and completing the mission of salvation. Help me to walk daily in Your finished work, not striving in my own strength, but resting in the victory of the cross. Amen.

“It is finished” is not a cry of defeat—it is the greatest declaration of victory in history.

• Sin paid in full
• Satan defeated
• Separation ended
• Mission accomplished
• Salvation secured

Because of the cross, you don’t fight for victory—you live from victory.
