This past Sunday we kicked off our series, Love Big, by reminding ourselves of a simple but powerful truth: We serve a BIG God. Paul writes in Ephesians 3:20, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us..." What an incredible promise! The God we serve is able to do far more than we can ask, think, or imagine. Not because of who we are or what we bring to the table, but because of who He is.
Throughout Scripture, God has always done His greatest work through ordinary people who were willing to trust Him. Abraham is one of the greatest examples of that kind of faith. In Genesis 22, God asked Abraham to do something that seemed impossible. He asked him to place his beloved son Isaac on the altar. Abraham didn't fully understand God's plan, but he trusted God's character. Step by step, day by day, Abraham chose faith over fear and obedience over understanding.
When Isaac asked, "Where is the lamb?" Abraham responded with one of the most faith-filled statements in Scripture: "God himself will provide."
And He did.
At the very moment Abraham needed it most, God provided a ram in the thicket. Abraham named that place, "The Lord Will Provide". The same God who provided for Abraham is still providing today.
The challenge for us is this: What is our Isaac?
What are we holding onto so tightly that it has become difficult to trust God with it? Maybe it's a plan, a fear, a relationship, a financial burden, a health concern, or an uncertain future. Whatever it is, God is inviting us to place it in His hands.
If we're going to Love Big, it will require incredible faith. Faith that trusts God's plan. Faith that walks in obedience. Faith that surrenders what we value most. Faith that believes God will provide.
As we move through this week, may we choose to loosen our grip on our fears and tighten our grip on God. The Lord who provided for Abraham is still faithful today.
Remember, God's provision is often waiting on the other side of your surrender. Trust Him. Follow Him. Let Him provide.
