Flashback Friday | Nashville District Church School Convention

Last Saturday, the Nashville District gathered for a powerful and inspiring Church School Convention under the theme:

“Let It Shine: Faith in Action Toward a Hopeful Future: Faith, Knowledge, and Justice.”

Rooted in Matthew 5:14 and Jeremiah 29:11, participants were challenged to reflect on an important question: How do we keep our light shining when the world seems so dark?

We are grateful for our dedicated Church School teachers who faithfully nurture and encourage both children and adults to be lights in their communities.

We were inspired by Minister Ramey, who emphasized the importance of carrying Christ’s light beyond the church walls and using our resources to bring hope and support to those in need.

We were also blessed by a powerful message from Rev. Terence Mayes Jr., entitled “Can I Burn Like I Want It?” His sermon reminded us that effective ministry requires a passion for God and a willingness to serve with purpose, conviction, and fire.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Presiding Elder Rev. Dr. Terence Mayes, Host Pastor Rev. Dr. Omaràn D Lee, Church School Coordinators Dr. Alexis Gatson and Bro. Julian Mayes, worship participants, the Payne Chapel Praise team, and all who made the day a blessed one!

A heartfelt thank you to Scarritt Bennett Center for the outstanding accommodations and exceptional customer service. Your hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail made our experience truly memorable. We are grateful for the warm welcome and excellent care provided throughout our convention.

As we reflect on this impactful gathering, may we continue to let our lights shine brightly, sharing faith, hope, and God’s love wherever we go.
