Not everything animated is innocent.

The new Minions movie hands your kids a spellbook, a candlelit ritual, and a creature the film itself names "the Deceiver" — and calls it family fun.

And it doesn't stop there. A PG children's movie with a running gag built on a character named Dick. A wink at an R-rated film about Hollywood's sexual rot. Drinking played for laughs. Jokes written to sail over your child's head and land on yours.

Understand what's happening: there is a battle for your soul, and children are on the front line. Not because they're targets of opportunity — because they're the softest ground. Children are wired for stories. It's how God made them. A child doesn't learn who to be from a lecture. He learns it from a story.

The danger isn't that your son walks out a sorcerer. The danger is slower. The ritual becomes funny. The summoning becomes cute. The crude becomes normal. The first time your child ever watches a human being call on a spirit, the whole theater is laughing.

That's not entertainment. That's formation.

Skip this one. Not out of fear — out of fatherhood. And if they already saw it: don't panic, don't shame them. Sit down and ask what they saw. Tell them the truth. Then bless your house and bless your children. You have that authority. Use it.
