Today, we honor and celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of First Lady Emeritus Frankie Mae Henry — a woman whose life embodied faith, courage, grace, leadership, and service.
A proud trailblazer of the Civil Rights Movement, First Lady Henry stood boldly for justice in Nashville, participating in historic sit-ins that helped challenge segregation and advance equality for Black people throughout the South. Her strength, sacrifice, and fearless commitment to change became a lasting part of the history of our city and our people.
For decades, she faithfully served alongside her husband, Rev. Dr. James E. Henry, helping build and strengthen the ministry of Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church while pouring wisdom, love, and encouragement into countless lives. Whether through ministry, mentorship, community leadership, sisterhood organizations, or simply the way she carried herself with dignity and compassion, First Lady Henry made an unforgettable impact on everyone blessed to know her.
She was a woman of elegance and power whose presence lit every room and whose faith remained steadfast through every season of life. Her legacy is woven into the fabric of Mount Ararat, the Nashville community, and the generations she inspired to walk boldly, serve faithfully, and love deeply.
Today, we celebrate not only the life she lived, but the doors she helped open, the people she uplifted, and the enduring legacy she leaves behind. Her influence will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Please continue to keep the Henry and Keeling family, the Mount Ararat family, and all who loved her lifted in prayer during this time.
