The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 15, 2026
Today the Church rejoices in one of the most beautiful mysteries of our faith – the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Our Lady was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.
This feast reminds us that Mary’s life was one of complete trust in God. From her “yes” at the Annunciation to her quiet strength at the foot of the Cross, she walked the path of faith with a heart open to grace. The Assumption is the Church’s way of proclaiming that such faithful love does not end in darkness – it is lifted, transformed, and brought fully into the light of God.
As we honor Our Blessed Mother today, we are invited to look to her as a sign of hope. Where she has gone, we are called to follow. Her Assumption reminds us that heaven is not far away, but the destiny God desires for each of us.
