Statement on the Passing of Dr. G. Thomas Sharp

On a gray winter’s day, an old lion has been gathered to his people.

Dr. G. Thomas Sharp, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and ministry leader, has gone home to be with the Lord. “Doc,” as he was known universally, passed away at 3:23 a.m., Wednesday, February 12.

Since the 1960's, Dr. Sharp dedicated his life to understanding and penetrating key problems facing the modern Christian society. His groundbreaking work in “worldview,” informed by his deep insights into Scripture, established the critical importance of properly understanding the origins accounts, as well as their links to eschatology. In fact, Doc was one of the few national ministry leaders that insisted on a “whole Bible” approach to apologetics. Twenty years ago, he began to form a unique approach that blended Genesis with Revelation; in this way he continued the original emphasis fashioned by his great friend, Dr. Henry M. Morris, founder of the Institute for Creation Research. Doc liked to say, “We have done the work of rightly dividing Genesis 1-11; now we must shore-up the importance of Genesis 12-50 for the people!”

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University, a Master of Science at the University of Oklahoma, and an Ph.D. from the South Florida Bible College and Seminary with an emphasis in the philosophy of religion and science.

As a result of the efforts in his research, he founded Creation Truth Foundation, Inc. in 1989. For decades, he spokeinternationally at churches, schools, universities and conventions. He had been a science educator since 1964. Doc and his beloved wife Diane are the parents of four children, grandparents to ten, and great-grandparents to five. He and Diane have lived in Oklahoma for many years.

Doc was also founder of the Institute of Biblical Worldview Studies (IBWS), in Noble, Oklahoma and co-founder andDirector of the Museum of Earth History in Dallas, TX on the campus of Christ for The Nations International. Doc served as the Editor-In-Chief for the Truth In Science curriculum, a Bible based science curriculum.

His legacy will continue on, as he earned a reputation as a compassionate man who also was uncompromising in his biblical convictions. He was fearless in the pulpit, a trait that is a rare in modern Evangelicalism.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

in Lieu of flowers, you're encouraged to send a donation in Doc's name to: Creation Truth foundation
