Founded as a Methodist Episcopal Church in 1838, Churchtown United Methodist Church has served the Churchtown community for over 180 years. Originally part of a 9 church circuit, the congregation met at homes, a school, and later, a hotel, before the first church building was constructed in what is now the Churchtown United Methodist Cemetery. The present building was constructed in 1878 and has been a center of worship ever since.
