Just as an earthquake or a storm wreaks havoc upon the land and the people, so God’s power is let loose over Canaan. Deborah is right to make this reference to God, and to declare her praise to whom glory is due. 🤔

A violent, gruesome scene. And yet, God allowed the event to occur…and is it not
so that God ordained it? Jael took advantage of divine circumstance, she was enabled by divine power, and she was commissioned by divine warrant. Jael’s act contributed to the deliverance of Israel, ordered by God Almighty who is the Righteous Judge and the Avenger. 🤔

How is it that they did not know these things? It must be because the previous generation did
not pass them on. The first generation did not teach their children about the great events of Israelite history, and further they did not pass on to them their knowledge of and devotion to God as savior and deliverer and sustainer and their
conquering king. Where was the testimony of God’s people? 🤔

Canaanite worship continued in the land that God has given to his people. Now we read here that, in reaction to God’s judgment, the Israelite people stopped what they were doing and offered sacrifices to the Lord. But the damage had been done, and the people knew it.🤔

What we need is a real Savior, one who not only demonstrates his power and his victory over the evil of this world, but one that also then leads us into this victory. A Savior that opens for us the doors of eternity and draws us through them. A
Savior that provides the assurance and the certainty that his resurrection can also
be ours. Does this Savior actually exist? 🤔
