On Good Friday we remember the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

We venerate the Cross, reverencing the instrument of our salvation on which Christ gave His life for us. The Church then celebrates the Mass of the Presanctified, where Holy Communion is received from Hosts consecrated on Holy Thursday.

Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Sacred Triduum.
At the Last Supper, Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, giving us the gift of Himself—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
At the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, we enter into this mystery in a special way, remembering that every Mass is a participation in that same sacrifice.
After Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is taken in procession to the altar of repose, and we are invited to remain with Our Lord in Adoration, keeping watch with Him in the garden.
The altar is then stripped, a sign of His coming Passion and abandonment.

🎄 Merry Christmas! 🎄
Today is a cause for great rejoicing as we give thanks for the birth of our Savior. We thank the Father who sent His only-begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life (Jn 3:16). We thank Christ who, though infinitely rich, chose to become a poor Child so that one day He might die on the Cross for our salvation. We thank the Holy Spirit, by whose power the Christ Child was conceived in the womb of our Blessed Mother. And we thank the Virgin Mary, whose humble yes gave the world its Savior.

This year we celebrate our second Christmas in our new Chapel, along with the many blessings received throughout the past year. We are grateful for the daily miracles we so often take for granted: the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Our Lord’s abiding presence in the Blessed Sacrament, and His mercy poured out so abundantly in Confession.

On His birthday, we give thanks to Christ the Lord for being so good to us each and every day—far more than we could ever count.

May God bless you all. Merry Christmas! ✨

Rorate Caeli—Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just

To not interrupt the beautiful setting of the candlelit Rorate Caeli Mass, I thought to publish my homily here in the bulletin so that all might read and know why we celebrate Mass in this magnificent setting on Saturday during Advent.

The Rorate Caeli Mass is a traditional Advent devotion wherein the Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Advent is offered just before dawn. The interplay of light and darkness speak to the meaning of Advent and the coming of the Light of the world.

We celebrate this beautiful Mass known as Roráte caeli which is the Introit of the Mass and is taken from the Book of Isaiah (45:8), “Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened, and bud forth a Savior: and let justice spring up together”

The Rorate Mass is lit only by candlelight. Because it is a votive Mass in Mary’s honor, white vestments are worn instead of Advent violet.

We celebrate by candlelight because by this dimly lit setting, we prepare to honor the Light of the world, Who is soon to be born, and offer praise to God for the gift of Our Lady. As the Mass proceeds and sunrise approaches, the church becomes progressively brighter, illumined by the sun as our Faith is illumined by Christ.

The readings and prayers of the Mass foretell the prophecy of the Virgin who would bear a Son called Emmanuel, and call on all to raise the gates of their hearts and their societies to let Christ the King enter; asking for the grace to receive eternal life by the merits of the Incarnation and saving Resurrection of Our Lord.
