The first few days of VBS 2026 ā€œJust Like Meā€ have been incredible!

Weā€™ve been discovering the power of wonder and what it means to use our voice. Through Bible stories, games, music, crafts, and collecting an offering for Mozambique and Loaves & Fishes, weā€™re celebrating who we are as Godā€™s generous and beloved children! Our 5th grade leaders added to the vibe by making and hanging signs of belonging!

Canā€™t wait to see you tomorrow for ā€œI Have Something to Share!ā€

At Our Saviourā€™s, Juneteenth is an opportunity both to celebrate freedom and to deepen our understanding of our shared history.

The holiday commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued.

Long celebrated in the African American community, Juneteenth honors the resilience, faith, and hope of those who endured slavery and persevered in the struggle for freedom. Our commitment to anti-racism calls us to educate ourselves, challenge systems that diminish human dignity, and reflect Godā€™s vision of a community where all people are valued, welcomed, and able to flourish.

As we observe Juneteenth, may we give thanks for the progress made while remaining committed to the work that still lies ahead. Music by Common Hymnal

ā€œNot here. Not yet.ā€
For too many people, thatā€™s the message theyā€™ve received from the world, and sometimes from the church.
But the gospel tells a different story.
You do not have to earn Godā€™s love.
You do not have to prove your worth.
You do not have to become someone else before you belong.
Every person is already loved.
Loved. Period.
Godā€™s grace is not measured, rationed, or held in reserve. It is poured out freely, and weā€™re called to share it just as freely.

Jesus never tells us who to avoid.
Instead, Jesus calls us to move toward the people the world often overlooks; the hurting, the struggling, the lonely, and those who have been pushed to the margins.
This week, weā€™re especially grateful to Nicholas for sharing his story with such openness, authenticity, and grace. His testimony reminds us that even when the path isnā€™t clear, the Holy Spirit continues to guide, accompany, and call us forward. We are grateful that leading brought him to Our Saviourā€™s.
While we are blessed by his many gifts as a musician, leader, and colleague, what we cherish most is who he is; a beloved child of God and a treasured member of this community.
In this powerful message, Nicholas reminds us that discipleship isnā€™t reserved for extraordinary people. Itā€™s ordinary people choosing compassion over fear, mercy over judgment, and love over indifference. Itā€™s trusting that Jesus never gives up on us and then extending that same grace to others.

ā€œItā€™s easy to hang a banner. Itā€™s harder to rearrange the table.ā€
This week, we are especially grateful for a member of our congregation who stepped into the pulpit and shared a thoughtful, challenging, and deeply personal message. Preaching is no small thing, and we give thanks for her willingness to do something that takes both courage and vulnerability.
Drawing from her own experiences as a parent of a child with disabilities and as someone living with an invisible disability, she invited us to reflect on what it means to move beyond simply welcoming people and toward creating communities of true belonging.
Jesus didnā€™t just heal people physically; he restored them to relationship and community. The Kin-dom of God comes near wherever barriers are removed, tables are expanded, and people are reminded that they belong.
As followers of Christ, weā€™re called not only to open our doors but to allow ourselves to be changed by the people God brings into our lives.
Where might God be inviting us to pull up another chair?

The crowd saw tax collectors and sinners.
Jesus saw Matthew.
The world is constantly sorting people into categories:
worthy or unworthy,
insider or outsider,
us or them.
But Jesus keeps pulling up chairs.
Again and again in this Gospel story, Jesus restores dignity, builds community, and reminds people that they are more than the labels theyā€™ve been given.
Pastor Brian states that maybe thatā€™s still the good news we need today.
You are more than your worst day.
More than the assumptions people make about you.
More than the labels the world tries to hand you.
There is a place for you at the table.
