Calvary Prayer

Calvary Prayer “Stand at your watch and look to see what the Lord will say…and pray.” Habakkuk 2:1

At Calvary Church our vision is to see the Body of Christ fully alive and walking in the grace and truth of God’s word. As we consider the life and work of Jesus we become aware of his desire to continually seek the Father and do His will. Jesus communed with His Father regularly and His prayer for us as believers (John 15) was that we would do the same. As we seek the Father and dwell in His pres

ence through prayer and intercession we become one with Him in Spirit; our hearts become one with his and we become the aroma of Christ and the fragrance of the knowledge of him to those around us. (2Cor. 2:14)
The bible instructs us to put on and to take up our offensive and defensive weapons and stand firm praying in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests and to keep on praying for all the saints. (Eph. 6)
We are urged to pray for our leaders (1Tim 2:1); to pray without ceasing (1Th 5:17); to knock, seek and ask (Mt 7:7); to present our requests to God through prayer (Phil 4:6); devote ourselves to prayer (Col 4:2); and to pray in faith (James 5:15)
The prayer ministry at Calvary Church is the first line of defense for leadership, the services, the ministries of the church, and for the people who attend. Our purpose is to pray in line with the word of God and in submission to our leadership for the pastors as they preach the word of God, the leaders and helpers as they serve, the children as they learn, and the people as they hear the word of God. We are to intercede for those who are lost, discouraged and in bo***ge and pray prayers for them to be saved, encouraged, restored and set free.

From The Rock, The Road and The Rabbi. Rabbi Jason Sobel: Regarding the woman accused of adultery:

"Several influential men were standing around this woman, pointing accusatory fingers at her as she probably knelt down in fear and shame. What did Jesus do? He knelt as well, in part to get down on her level. He did not stand over her but got down in the dirt with her. This is such a beautiful picture of the love of Jesus? He meets us where we are and never looks down on us."

Bring to light what is hidden in darkness and expose the motives of men's hearts. 1 Corinthians 4:5. We have been given a trust, may we be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2.

As the Spirit laments within us, so we become,
even in our self-isolation,
small shrines where the presence and healing love of God can dwell.
And out of that there can emerge new possibilities,
new acts of kindness, new scientific understanding, new hope.

In this time of sheltering in place ask God how you might continue to boldly build the Kingdom, reach the lost, encourage the weary, reconcile the sinner, build up the brokenhearted. Instead of "why me?"---why not me?
May we be willing to allow God to do whatever He needs to do to bring us to more intimate places of worship. To make us more like Him. To teach us to trust. To increase our faith.
We don't want to pray "God bring us out" until He has brought us through and we have seen Jesus in it with us.
Break our hearts as Yours is for the lost, the hungry and the oppressed and defenseless. May we burn with a desire to see your Kingdom principles at work in us to reconcile a dying world to a living God.

Such good news!

Such good news!

Praise God, Greg’s tracheostomy was not needed Thursday! When tested, he was able to breathe enough on his own that his ventilator settings were turned off and his doctors believe his breathing tube could be removed soon. “His lungs showed significant signs of life, and for that we REJOICE!” says son Dr. Greg Mundis. The AGWM family joins our faith with Dr. Mundis and says collectively to Greg, “Let’s make it a REALLY Good Friday!”

Urgent Prayer Update:

Please continue to pray for Gregory Michael Mundis. He was airlifted to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis on March 31 to a pulmonary unit for specialized care for COVID-19 patients. Please intercede for him and for the specialists as they work on his lungs.

“Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind." -Psalm 107:19-21

Update: The medical team is keeping Greg rested today so his lungs can gain strength. No new major developments at this point. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Urgent Prayer Request:
We ask you to once again stop and intercede for Greg Mundis, AGWM Executive Director. He is currently facing some rising physical life-threatening setbacks, and we ask you to pray for his lungs to clear, fluids to lessen, and for the Spirit of God to heal him completely.
