It is now official!! We have a new pastor! welcome Art and Jenny!
We are pleased to announce that after several months of prayer and mutual discernment, Napa Living Vine Church of the Nazarene has called Rev. Dr. Art Matheny to be their senior pastor. Pastor Art will begin his new assignment in May.
Pastor Art is a graduate of Ozark Christian College (BA in Biblical Literature), Regent College (M.Div in Spiritual Theology), and Fuller Theological Seminary (D. Min in Spiritual Direction). Art most recently served as senior pastor of Tru Community Church (Wesleyan) in Manhattan, KS.
As part of his work at Living Vine, Pastor Art will be developing an onsite Center for Spiritual Transformation and Companionship as a ministry to the community. We will be sharing how you can receive spiritual direction and participate in retreats offered by the center in the months to come.
Pastor Art's approach to ministry is one of listening, collaboration, and development. He previously served as a lead pastor in Sonoma. His wife, Dr. Jenny K. Matheny, is a former faculty member at Nazarene Theological Seminary and is the Associate Professor of Christian Scriptures at Truett Seminary. Jenny's family is from Napa, so the Mathenys are very familiar with North Bay culture.
