Este fin de semana celebramos la Solemnidad del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos dice que “La Eucaristía es ‘fuente y culmen de toda la vida cristiana’” (1324). Lo que esto significa es que la culminación de la acción salvífica de Dios por medio de Jesucristo fluye de la Eucaristía (fuente) y nuestra adoración y todas nuestras acciones, oraciones obras nos deben de llevar hacia la Eucaristía (culmen). El deseo de Dios es que todos nosotros compartamos su gracia por medio de la Eucaristía, pero también nutrir y fortalecer nuestra fe. Como personas de fe, TODO los que hacemos nos debe llevar a la Eucaristía: nuestra fe, oraciones, ayunos, obras de caridad, etc. No basta con decir “tengo fe, pero no voy a Misa” o “yo mejor rezo en casa en vez de ir a Misa.” Nuestra fe, y todo lo que hacemos en nuestra vida espiritual, debe llevarnos a la Eucaristía para experimentar la gracia sacramental que fluye de la Eucaristía. No hay otras alternativas. Todos necesitamos que participar en la Misa para poder recibir la Eucaristía. Espero que cada uno de nosotros continuemos haciendo nuestro mejor esfuerzo de vivir nuestra fe Católica y hagamos el tiempo para venir a Misa y así recibir la gracia de Dios por medio de la Eucaristía—Padre Abel

This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that: “The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life’” (1324). This means that the culmination of God’s saving actions in Jesus Christ flows from the Eucharist (source) and all our worship, prayers and actions should be leading us to the Eucharist (summit). God’s desire is for all of us to share in His grace through the Eucharist, but also nourish and strengthen our faith. As people of faith, ALL that we do must lead us to the Eucharist: our faith, prayers, fasting, works of charity, etc. It is not enough to say: “I have faith, but I do not go to church” or “I pray at home instead of going to Mass.” Our faith, and all that we do in our spiritual life, must lead us to the Eucharist to be able to experience the sacramental grace that flows from the Eucharist. There are no alternatives or shortcuts. We must all participate in the Mass so that we can receive the Holy Eucharist. I would hope that as we continue to do our best to live our Catholic faith, we might always strive to make the time to come to Mass regularly so that we may receive all the graces that comes from the Holy Eucharist—Fr. Este fin de semana celebramos la Santísima Trinidad. Nuestra enseñanza nos dice que la Santísima Trinidad es un solo verdadero Dios y tres personas. El Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo son tres personas distintas que tienen la misma naturaleza y dignidad y son un solo Dios. El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad es el misterio central de nuestra fe y de la vida Cristiana. Siempre comenzamos la Misa, y toda oración, con la fórmula de la Santísima Trinidad: “En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.” Aunque la Santísima Trinidad es un misterio de nuestra fe, este fin de semana somos llamados a meditar sobre cada persona de la Santísima Trinidad en nuestra vida spiritual. Espero que continuemos haciendo lo mejor de tener presente la Santísima Trinidad en nuestras vidas para que experimentemos la gracia de Dios en nuestras vidas. Que Dios nos bendiga—Padre Abel

This weekend we celebrate the Holy Trinity. Our Catholic faith states that the Holy Trinity is only one true God and three persons. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three distinct persons that have the same nature and dignity and are only one God. The mystery of Holy Trinity is at the center of our faith and the Christian life. We always begin the Holy Mass, and any prayer, with the formula of the Holy Trinity: “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Even though the Holy Trinity is a mystery of our faith, this weekend we are called to meditate on each person of the Holy Trinity in our spiritual life. May we all continue to do our best to have the Holy Trinity present in our spirituality so that we may all experience the grace of God in our lives. May God bless us all—Fr. Abel

Este fin de semana la Santa Iglesia celebra el domingo de Pentecostés, que a veces es visto como el nacimiento de la Iglesia porque después que los discípulos recibieron al Espíritu Santo, comenzaron la actividad misionera de la Iglesia de proclamar la Buena Nueva. La función del Espíritu Santo es esencial para la vida de la Iglesia y también para nuestras vidas. Es por el Espíritu Santo que el pan y vino se transforman en el Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. El Espíritu Santo es la razón que todos nosotros recibimos la gracia de Dios por medio de los sacramentos y nuestras oraciones. Todos nosotros también hemos recibido al Espíritu Santo, especialmente cuando fuimos confirmados, y recibimos los dones del Espíritu Santo: sabiduría, entendimiento, consejo, ciencia, fortaleza, temor de Dios y piedad. Con los dones del Espíritu Santo, todos hemos recibido la posibilidad de hacer lo mejor de practicar y perseverar en nuestra fe en Dios y Su Santa Iglesia. Espero que todos nosotros hagamos los mejor para crecer en nuestra relación con Dios y Su Santa Iglesia y que se nos sea posible de vivir y compartir los dones del Espíritu Santo en nuestro camino espiritual hacia Dios Padre. También, este próximo lunes celebramos Memorial Day, el cual recordamos todos aquellos que han fallecido sirviendo en las fuerzas armadas. Hay que rezar por su eterno descanso. This weekend the Church celebrates Pentecost Sunday, which sometimes is seen as the birth of the Church because after the disciples received the Holy Spirit, they went out and begin the missionary activity of the Church to proclaim the Good News. The role of the Holy Spirit is essential in the life of the Church and our lives as well. It is the because of the Holy Spirit that the bread and wine are able to be transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. It is because of the Holy Spirit that all of us are able to receive the grace of God through the sacraments and prayers. All of us have also received the Holy Spirit, especially when we were confirmed, we received the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, fear of the Lord and piety. With the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we have been given everything to be able do the best that we can to be able to practice and persevere in our faith and remain close to God and His Holy Church. I would hope that all of us, as we do our best to grow in our relationship with God and His Holy Church, we might also do our best to live and share all the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our spiritual journey to God the Father. Also, next Monday we celebrate Memorial Day, a day which we remember all those who have died while serving in the armed forces. Let us remember to pray for their eternal rest.
