O portão das ovelhas

"Eu sou o bom pastor. O bom pastor dá a vida pelas ovelhas." (João 10:11)

Jesus disse: “Eu sou a porta das ovelhas… Se alguém entrar por mim, será salvo, e entrará e sairá, e encontrará pastagens” (João 10:7, 9). Nos tempos bíblicos, os pastores descansavam na entrada do curral. Essencialmente, um pastor era a porta para manter suas ovelhas seguras.

Como bom pastor, Jesus disse que morreria voluntariamente pelas ovelhas, uma referência à sua morte sacrificial na cruz – o único meio pelo qual uma pessoa pode ser salva. Ele é capaz de salvar aqueles que se aproximam de Deus através dele.

The sheep’s Door

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." (John 10:11)

Jesus said, “I am the gate of the sheep… If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:7, 9). In biblical times, shepherds rested at the entrance to the corral. Essentially, a shepherd was the gate to keep his sheep safe.

As a good shepherd, Jesus said he would willingly die for the sheep, a reference to his sacrificial death on the cross – the only means by which a person can be saved. He is able to save those who draw near to God though him.
