Doctrinal Statement of Faith
The Scriptures
Divinely inspired men authored the Holy Bible representing God’s revelation to man. God is its perfect source, its goal is salvation, and its subject is divine truth. All of Scripture bears witness to Christ, the central focus of divine revelation. Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Joshua 8:34; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8;

Jeremiah 15:16; 36:1-32; Matthew 5:17-18; 22:29; Luke 21:33; 24:44-46; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17; Acts 2:16ff.; 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21. He is the intelligent, spiritual, personal Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal characteristics but no division of nature, essence, or existence. God the Father
God, as the Father, rules over His universe, His creation, and for the purpose of His grace and glory. God is a true Father to those who become His children through their faith in Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:1; 2:7; Exodus 3:14; 6:2-3; 15:11ff.; 20:1ff.; Leviticus 22:2; Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:6; 1 Chronicles 29:10; Psalm 19:1-3; Isaiah 43:3,15; 64:8; Jeremiah 10:10; 17:13; Matthew 6:9ff.; 7:11; 23:9; 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; John 4:24; 5:26; 14:6-13; 17:1-8; Acts 1:7; Romans 8:14-15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 4:6; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 11:6; 12:9; 1 Peter 1:17; 1 John 5:7. God the Son
Christ is the eternal Son of God. Jesus perfectly revealed and accomplished God’s plan by taking on human nature while preserving His divine essence with all its demands and necessities and uniting Himself entirely with mankind while remaining sinless. Genesis 18:1ff.; Psalms 2:7ff.; 110:1ff.; Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 53:1-12; Matthew 1:18-23; 3:17; 8:29; 11:27; 14:33; 16:16,27; 17:5; 27; 28:1-6,19; Mark 1:1; 3:11; Luke 1:35; 4:41; 22:70; 24:46; John 1:1-18,29; 10:30,38; 11:25-27; 12:44-50; 14:7-11; 16:15-16,28; 17:1-5, 21-22; 20:1-20,28; Acts 1:9; 2:22-24; 7:55-56; 9:4-5,20; Romans 1:3-4; 3:23-26; 5:6-21; 8:1-3,34; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:30; 2:2; 8:6; 15:1-8,24-28; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; 8:9; Galatians 4:4-5; Ephesians 1:20; 3:11; 4:7-10; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:13-22; 2:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 3:16; Titus 2:13-14; Hebrews 1:1-3; 4:14-15; 7:14-28; 9:12-15,24-28; 12:2; 13:8; 1 Peter 2:21-25; 3:22; 1 John 1:7-9; 3:2; 4:14-15; 5:9; 2 John 7-9; Revelation 1:13-16; 5:9-14; 12:10-11; 13:8; 19:16. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God’s fully divine Spirit. He helps men in comprehending truth through light, men are convicted of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and He draws mankind to the Savior. Genesis 1:2; Judges 14:6; Job 26:13; Psalms 51:11; 139:7ff.; Isaiah 61:1-3; Joel 2:28-32; Matthew 1:18; 3:16; 4:1; 12:28-32; 28:19; Mark 1:10,12; Luke 1:35; 4:1,18-19; 11:13; 12:12; 24:49; John 4:24; 14:16-17,26; 15:26; 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4,38; 4:31; 5:3; 6:3; 7:55; 8:17,39; 10:44; 13:2; 15:28; 16:6; 19:1-6; Romans 8:9-11,14-16,26-27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14; 3:16; 12:3-11,13; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; 5:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; 1 Timothy 3:16; 4:1; 2 Timothy 1:14; 3:16; Hebrews 9:8,14; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 John 4:13; 5:6-7; Revelation 1:10; 22:17. Man
Man is God’s unique creature, formed in His image. As the pinnacle of His creation, He fashioned them male and female. Gender is thus a component of the goodness of God’s creation. Only God’s grace can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable him to fulfill God’s purpose for His creation. Genesis 1:26-30; 2:5,7,18-22; 3; 9:6; Psalms 1; 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Matthew 16:26; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-18,23; 5:6,12,19; 6:6; 7:14-25; 8:14-18,29; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31; 15:19,21-22; Ephesians 2:1-22; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11. Salvation
Salvation is man’s redemption and is freely given to those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. As a result, personal faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord is essential for salvation. Genesis 3:15; Exodus 3:14-17; 6:2-8; Matthew 1:21; 4:17; 16:21-26; 27:22-28:6; Luke 1:68-69; 2:28-32; John 1:11-14,29; 3:3-21,36; 5:24; 10:9,28-29; 15:1-16; 17:17; Acts 2:21;

We had a warning for everything when I was working as an electrician. For example, when you open an electrical panel box, there are warning labels everywhere to let you know how dangerous it is in the box. Any false move could cause severe harm or death. Jesus taught His disciples that His second coming would come like a lion. People will live their lives like in the days of Noah without care, unknowing of what was to come. However, when He returns, He will not return in secret. It will be a huge event, everyone will know that He returned, and they will clamor to be saved, but all they will receive is the Final Judgment because they choose to ignore all the warnings of His return. We have committed to Jesus to share the gospel message with people, including a message that if they decide not to accept Him, there is a final judgment coming, and be ready for the consequences of their decision. Our home is temporary, but Jesus’ words are eternal. So, let’s get out in the world and help people understand that His second return is coming, and tomorrow is never promised. People live like it is the ultimate party without a care in the world, even though Christians told them that He will return and commit to Him. However, they continue to ignore the message, and that is unfortunate. Yet, no matter what others decide to do with their life, it does not give us a free pass not to share the good news to help others. So, what are we waiting for?

Matthew 24:32–41(NASB)
“Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

When was the last time someone tested your patience? They did something purposefully to see your reaction, and when you allowed them to affect you negatively, they won. So many people will notice that you are trying to improve your life, and they hate that. So they will attack you personally to make themselves feel better about themselves. People tested Jesus Christ often because they heard and saw His testimony, making them look bad. They did not want to change themselves, even though they knew what He said was from God Himself. People do not like correction because it reveals their faults to others, making them feel weak. So let’s allow the truth from the Word of God to affect us positively. So many people will try to trip us up, and sometimes we will fall. However, we must embrace His teachings in our daily walk because they will make us better. Even when people attack us, we have His instructions in our hearts to prompt us to love them as we love God. So let’s continue to follow His commands. Let’s learn and teach them so that others will know how God has affected your life.

Matthew 22:34–40(NASB)
But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Many people in this world do not respect others. They say that we need to love others, but it really only means we need to respect them, but they do not need to love you. One of the things Jesus did during His time in the world was to demonstrate the right way to reverence God. Many people believed that following rules was how to please God, but He desired our hearts. If God cared for outward appearances, He would not need to send His Son to die in our place. So, let’s allow God to change our attitude and worship Him as our creator. Without God sending His Son, we would not have any hope in this world. Let’s thank God today for what He did, does, and will do for us in our lives.

Matthew 21:1–11(NASB)
When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a c**t with her; untie them and bring them to Me. If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, ‘BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A C**T, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.’ ” The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them, and brought the donkey and the c**t, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats. Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road. The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!” When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?” And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Have you ever had an opportunity robbed by someone else even though you worked hard? People take advantage of any situation to gain an edge over others. When we see someone gain a benefit over us, we tend to become resentful of them. Resentment builds into unforgiveness, and it overshadows our purpose in life. God asks us to step up and take responsibility, yet we are not to hold it over others. When God gives us a leadership position, our primary focus is serving people. When we start to serve ourselves first, it becomes a problem. So today, let’s focus on the kingdom of God and allow God to rule in our hearts. Jesus Christ died for our sins, not so that we can gain authority in this life, but so that we receive salvation and the desire to serve others so they also receive God’s gift. Let’s submit ourselves to God’s authority and each other. Unforgiveness is not a character that demonstrates God’s love. We are to forgive others as God has forgiven us. So, let’s stop allowing bitterness to rule our lives and repent and ask for forgiveness from God and those we resent. So we can serve God fully.

Matthew 20:20–28(NASB)
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left.” But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to Him, “We are able.” He said to them, “My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers. But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Many people in the world desire for others to confirm what they are doing is ok. So, for example, many parts of the world have affirmed homosexuality, while others still condemn it. Some Christian denominations support it, and others do not. However, the word of God is clearly against the practice. People use the excuse that we are sinful. Therefore, people have permitted them not to repent and continue practicing their sins. This issue is not just about homosexuality but our continuous sinful behavior. People fall short of the glory of God, so we need to stop seeking affirmation from other people about our shortfalls and start seeking God’s will. God affirmed Jesus Christ on the mountain as His Son, who we must listen to. So, let’s stop trying to justify and rationalize our sinful behavior. We will never be perfect in this life, but that is no excuse for us not to expect to be better than we are right now. We cannot continue in our sinful behavior and be an example of Christ to others. Let’s repent of our sinful behavior, ask God to forgive us, and allow the Holy Spirit to correct us, so we are a better example of Christ. It will not happen instantly, but you will notice a change in your life over time. Thank God for this opportunity to grow spiritually so that one day Jesus Christ will affirm you as a faithful servant and welcome you into eternal life with God.

Matthew 17:1–8(NASB)
Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.

Many years ago, a shooter went from room to room asking anyone if they believed in Christ to stand up. Finally, one girl stood up in a class of thirty, and the shooter killed her for her faith. People say many different things about Christ and what He means to them. Some hate Him, others believe He was a great teacher, and Christians believe He is their Lord and Savior. However, what would you do if someone held a gun to your head and your life depended on your choice? Would you stand firm in your faith or relent because you feared for your life? The choice you make at that moment will impact someone. People must stand for their beliefs, even if it costs them their lives. Unfortunately, some people in this world do not have the luxury of freedom of religion, and they may be killed for their faith. In America, we may not be killed for our faith today, but that will not stop people from persecuting us. So, let’s profess who Jesus Christ is to us without fear of rejection or persecution. We may be persecuted for our faith, but that might be what it takes for the persecutor to see Christ in us, and we may have an opportunity to share the gospel with them so they, too, have faith.

Matthew 16:13–20(NASB)
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.

Many people in this world will do everything in their power to take our identity. For example, when we get a loan from a bank, they require proof of who we are. They demanded photo IDs, residency proof, and other official papers to verify our identity. Many people demand proof from God of His existence, and when He has proved it, they still do not believe. Their doubt of Him overcomes their belief in Him. Peter always seemed to allow His emotions to guide his actions and words. He saw Jesus walk on water, but yet he doubted. When Peter asked for proof, “if it is You,” Jesus called him out on the water to join Him. However, when Peter started to walk on water, the wind started, and he became afraid and started to sink. Our doubt leads to a demand for proof, yet our faith is tested when we are called to obedience. What we do next is essential. Do we cry out to Jesus or continue to sink in our doubt? So, when our faith is tested, let’s call on God to help us. We need to recognize that we have limited strength and power to battle the forces of doubt. So we must rely on Him to assist us in all our situations.

Matthew 14:22–33(NASB)
Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”

Have you ever misplaced your car keys, searched for them, and could not find them? You looked at the table where you usually leave them but did not see them. However, you looked again, and they were exactly where you put them. Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight, even when we are searching for them. When we find what we are looking for, we find some joy because we thought they were lost. Many people are searching for something better in their lives. They move from one thing to another, trying to fill the void within them, but never realizing that what is missing is God. When unbelievers discover God, they receive a joy they could not imagine before. They are willing to do anything to keep that joy, even destroy their image. Sometimes Christians forget our love for Christ, and God will send someone to remind us. So, let’s remember what God has done for us. He sent His Son to die for us so we have joy. Our joy is too hard to contain, so we want to share it with others. The question is, are you willing to sacrifice everything so others may hear the good news?

Matthew 13:44–52(NASB)
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous, and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes.” And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

Our parents are a significant influence in our lives. Some do an excellent job teaching and correcting us as we grow; other parents suck at it. Either way, they have impacted and made us who we are today. Our experiences in our life form our identity. Unfortunately, sometimes those who influence our life expect a certain level of loyalty and may ask us to do something outside our typical behavior, leading us to immoral things. However, God will never ask us to do something against His character. He does ask us for loyalty, but He will guide us to align our character to His. He does that by placing godly people who are His children in our lives so we can see how He has changed their lives. Our identity is not based on our family status but through God. He has redefined us, and our past mistakes are no longer our identity. So, let’s stop concentrating on our past and focus on the kingdom of God because He calls all who accept His Son as their Lord and Savior His children. Let’s continue to do His will so others may receive a new and better life.

Matthew 12:46–50(NASB)
While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.” But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.”

Daredevils come up with all kinds of wacky ideas to impress people. For example, Evel Knievel was a motorcycle stunt driver performing various feats to impress. Although he was famous for his impossible jumps, he was also well-known for his crashes. So a certain amount of doubt would enter people’s minds when he would perform his stunts. Likewise, John the Baptist had a level of expectation of the Messiah that did not measure up to what Jesus was doing. He misunderstood the purpose of Jesus’ role, so doubt crept into him, he questioned Him, and Jesus responded with Scripture and miracles. Sometimes our faith is based on our interpretation of specific verses in the Bible, and when someone comes along and tells us that is not what it means, it can create doubt. So, when doubt occurs, we need to question our understanding. God has given us the Holy Spirit and has placed godly people in our lives to help clarify any confusion and erase the doubt in our minds. Unfortunately, people have added complexity of meanings to verses that the author did not intend. So, let’s question our understanding of Scripture to know the author’s intended purpose. With this, any doubt that may enter our mind can be easily defeated with our confidence in Scripture, and we can share the good news with others.

Matthew 11:1–6(NASB)
When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities. Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.”

When you go to work, do you receive a raise when you sit around on your butt all day and do nothing? When we get hired for a job, there are expectations from our boss. When we exceed the expected workload, we receive a raise to tell us we did a great job and encourage us to continue our work. When Jesus left this world, He gave His disciples a command to follow. To go and make new disciples. However, discipleship is a challenging road we will travel. We will face persecution, and our family may even hate us for our faith in Christ. If we continue discipleship through adversity, we will receive a reward from God. The reward is not salvation because that is a gift from God because of our faith in His Son. Think of the reward as a blessing from God because we desire to please Him for His compassion. When we refuse to obey His commands, we tell God no, thank You, I do not want Your blessings. So let’s follow Christ’s example and deny ourselves, pick up or cross, and follow Him daily. Our faith is not a once, and you are done deal; it is a lifetime commitment. Let’s teach the new believers because it is not about us. We should not have the mentality of “What do I gain by doing this?” because Jesus dying on the cross has already done the work. Our job is to share the gospel message, and because of our obedience, more people receive Christ in their hearts. Isn’t that enough to bless you to continue, even through the trials?

Matthew 10:40–42(NASB)
“He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
