s/pastors from within the church. Multi-generational
The Bible shows all ages working together in the body (multi-generational) and that it is the responsibility of the parents to instruct their children in the way of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 22:6). This is most largely expressed in the parents’ life in service to Christ, the husband's leadership in leading the home spiritually and sacrificially by putting the Spiritual needs of his family first over outside ministry and personal interests/hobbies, the wife's service to Christ in submission and the running of the home and both parents' submission to the local church elders in teaching and practicing the Word in daily life (Ephesians 5:22-33). Biblical Family Ministry Model
Therefore, we have no children's ministry, youth group, etc. We serve Christ together as a body and support each other as a result, young and old. The parents are to further explain what is being taught Scripturally, as well as lead the spiritual lives of their children together. The church supports this aim, through all the pastoral offices, but not via a "youth pastor" as an elder/pastor is over the whole church, not just children or youth. This is not to say that pastor's cannot have a special area of ministry for which they have a heart. It is only that the role of pastor/elder is in the authoritative servant leading comprised of the whole church as an undershepherd to the Great Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ. Organic Growth
We believe that growth is determined by individual and corporate spiritual holiness through transformation via the Holy Spirit in the Word organically. Success is not to be determined by the world's standards of popularity, attendance, financial status, etc., rather, it is determined by the love of Jesus being displayed through our lives and relationships via discipleship and adherence to Scripture. Organic Discipleship-based Missiology/Evangelism
Since we do not follow the business model, we do not primarily advertise via flyers, signs, programs, etc., but instead want people to be attracted to Jesus in us organically. Evangelistically, the Lord asks us to make disciples of all people, baptize after conversion, and to instruct those disciples in obeying Scripture (Matthew 28:19-20). Therefore, we let Him draw people through us. Meaning advertisement is displayed by those we come in contact through work, family, and friendships and is a result of their observance of our lives. Our mission in outreach then, is that by being led by the Holy Spirit, Jesus in us would be what would attract others, not entertainment as is so common in today's culture. We do not need these tactics because we have the Almighty God interceding for us in every conversation, action, etc. Pursuit of God and His Holy Standard not Hypocrisy
As a church we do not claim perfection, only that we follow Jesus who is perfect in every way being both God and the Son of God. When we meet for church, we fellowship, that is we encourage and challenge one another as "iron sharpens iron", to continually come up higher to more purely follow Christ. God tells us to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16), meaning that the standard is perfection because the standard is Christ. Even though, we will never reach this standard until we die or Jesus returns and we are glorified, we are to pursue this perfect holiness with all vigor (Ephesians 5:1, Hebrews 12:14-17, 1 Peter 1:14-16). The Church Worship Service is for Believers to Worship God and be Equipped
Scripture is clear that the assembling together (church Sunday service) is to be orderly, Biblical, and is primarily for worshipping God through equipping the believers to meet with God (praise Him through song, listen to the Holy Spirit during the message, enact the Word in our hearts out of love for God), better learn how to follow Jesus through study of Scripture, and to witness in making disciples through growing closer in our relationship with God (Hebrews 10:19-25, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 14:26,40). Additionally, we kindly see any unbelievers/seekers as observers and they are free to ask questions throughout the service. Gender Roles
Scripture clearly teaches gender roles as attributed to both men and women. In marriage (the union between a man and a woman - Ephesians 5:31, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5, Mark 10:7), there is specific roles: the weightiest being placed on the man/husband (Ephesians 5:22-33, Genesis 3). The husband is to lead and love his house in a sacrificial way, as Jesus gave Himself up for the church. Meaning that he sacrifices and puts the spiritual needs of his wife first and children second, before the church ministry, outside ministry, and interests/hobbies (Ephesians 5:22-33). This is to imitate after Jesus' example and should be after the attributes displayed by the elders in 1 Timothy 3 (1 Timothy 4:12, Titus 2:2-12). A husband’s/father’s job isn't just to provide, but to spiritually invest and help aid in the spiritual maturation of his wife and children. This role doesn't make the husband more valuable than a wife, only more accountable to God. Wives are to respectfully submit to their husbands unless it is to follow Him into a pattern of sin (for she is a daughter of God first and a wife second). This is the case when a husband isn't encouraging his wife to follow him towards that, which is for her spiritual betterment, but rather is to proceed in sin or hiding a sin. In this case, she should confront him according to Matthew 18 (first alone, then with a pastor, and lastly the pastor will handle it as an elder with the whole church). Further, in turning a sinner from the error of his way, it will keep him from a multitude of sins (James 5:20). The wife's primary role is to be a helpmate for her husband (Genesis 2:18). She is to care for her house in anyway that she can (this can include outside work as long as it is not deterring from the spiritual condition of supporting/investing spiritually in her husband and children - Proverbs 31:10-31) and live after the example of the Proverbs 31 woman (Proverbs 31:10-31) mentored by Godly women within the church (Titus 2:3-5). Pastorally, Scripture shows only men can be elders (1 Timothy 2:12-15). This refers to any form of authority in the church. Paul goes back to the Garden of Eden in showing that God's natural order for man's role spiritually is to lead and a woman's role is to be a helpmate and correspond to the running of the home. Though this goes in strict contrast to the current feminist culture of today, Scripture is not bent around our culture, but rather is meant to define how we are to live as it is God's revealed will (2 Timothy 3:16). Additionally, this is not a form of bo***ge (as the feminist culture would argue), but rather is actually freeing as it is embracing God's designed role. Both men and women are equal, just designed differently both physically and in spiritual function. Marriage
We believe marriage is as Scripture displays: the sacred covenant union between one man and one woman with God. It is shown clearly in the creation account of both man and woman (Genesis 2:3-25) and the two becoming one flesh. Biblical Heterosexuality
Eagle Bible Fellowship is committed to the fact that both the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired Word of God and that Scriptures are the supreme and final authority in faith and life, we are compelled to regard God’s statements/judgments concerning the issue of same-sex behavior and partnerships as binding. An examination of both Testaments reveals that God is consistent concerning his position on this issue. Genesis 19 indicates that the homosexual lifestyle was a significant sin for which S***m and Gomorrah were judged (see also Jude 7). In Romans 1, the apostle Paul, speaking under inspiration, depicts the downward spiral of human morality over time. In this passage, both homosexual and le***an behaviors are condemned (26-27). While Eagle Bible Fellowship does not denigrate the dignity of the individual’s personhood or deny the worth of his soul, EBF cannot condone the chosen lifestyle. Elder/Pastoral Role
An elder must be a man as corresponding to the gender roles of men to lead (1 Timothy 2:12-15). The elder's primary role is to lead and teach the church as well as serve according to Titus 2:1-8 (Acts 20:28) as undershepherds of Jesus Christ the Spiritual Head of the Church. Pastors have greater accountability to God as well (James 3:1). Additionally, an elder is to help raise up within the church other men to come alongside and be elders as well if they are called, have the ability to teach, and live according to 1 Timothy chapter 3. This is why the church doesn't have a "pastoral search committee" or require resume's from outside sources, but rather raise up men from within who have been trained up and equipped by the Word (Titus 1:5-9, Acts 20:28).
