Exceedingly Abundantly: A Guest Message from Pastor James Dills
At New Life Christian Fellowship, Pastor Dale Morton welcomed longtime friend and servant Pastor James Dills. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of "kingdom authority" as Pastor Dills delivered a powerful word based on Ephesians 3:20:
"Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."
The message was an urgent reminder that while the enemy is real and waits for "convenient seasons" to puncture our joy, God has never vacated His throne.
Key Sermon Insights
1. The Enemy at the Exit
Pastor Dills noted that the enemy often doesn't interfere with the praise and worship inside the church. Instead, he waits at the "exit of every door" with a sharp knife to rip a hole in your "bag of glory," letting the peace and joy leak out slowly throughout the week.
* The Solution: Recognizing that God is an "ever-present help." Even if you trip or stumble on Wednesday, God is ready to jump into the car with you if you only ask.
2. The Vision of Isaiah (Isaiah 6)
Pastor Dills explored the life of the prophet Isaiah, who was "dormant" in his faith while leaning on his hero, King Uzziah.
* The Turning Point: "The day King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord." * The Lesson: Sometimes, God allows the "idols" or "crutches" in our lives to fall away so that we can finally see the True King sitting high and lifted up.
3. The Miracle in Tehachapi: Samuel Pray’s Story
In a moving testimony, Pastor Dills shared the story of Samuel Pray, a bus captain in the Los Angeles barrio who felt discouraged after 20 years of ministry and a sick wife.
* The Moment: After quitting and driving 250 miles away to Tehachapi, CA, Sam stopped at the only open gas station at 2:00 AM.
* The Miracle: The young attendant recognized him! The boy had been saved on Sam’s bus at age six and was now a Bible college graduate ministering in that town. It was a divine "intervening" to show Sam that his labor was never in vain.
The Love of God: Written on an Asylum Wall
To close, Pastor Dills shared the origin of the famous fourth stanza of the hymn "The Love of God." It was found etched into the wall of a mental institution in 1917, written by a man who regained his clarity through the overwhelming love of the
Creator:
"Could we with ink the ocean fill, / And were the skies of parchment made; / Were every stalk on earth a quill, / And every man a scribe by trade; / To write the love of God above / Would drain the ocean dry; / Nor could the scroll contain the whole, / Though stretched from sky to sky."
Church Announcements:
* New Nursery Program: New Life now has an activated nursery program! Parents are encouraged to bring their little ones (ages 0-3) so they can enjoy the service while Sister Robin and the team care for the children.
* Welcome, Karen! A warm welcome to Karen Williams, who joined the congregation this week.
