The Yellow House is so much more than a two story brick building across the street from the SFA campus. It is hugs and laughter and songs, it’s long talks on the back porch swing with friends. It’s midnight devotionals at sleepovers, it’s camp outs outs and float trips and retreats. It’s volleyball on the sand court out back, it’s pingpong and cooking spaghetti in the kitchen. It’s helping the hom
eless, taking in the lonely, and spending time with friends. It’s snoozing on the couch and late night studying for a test. In other words, for hundreds of University students over the years it’s been simply, “Home.”
Our early years were located in a “little Yellow House,” hence the name. We are directed by the North Street Church of Christ, here in Nacogdoches, and are supported by a number of congregations and individuals. Students from all denominations have found a home and been welcomed at the Yellow House. The Yellow House exists because of and for University students. Specifically, we are a ministry which reaches out to help the students of Stephen F. Austin State University. To reach students, the Yellow House offers an informal place to relax, study, play, pray, grow spiritually, and make and be with friends. We have Bible studies, devotionals, retreats, mission trips, small groups, free Wednesday lunch and speaker, free Thursday night meal and Devotional, service activities, and a lot of good hang out time. We point students to Jesus, Our Savior, and encourage spiritual values and spiritual growth. We strive to keep an informal and friendly atmosphere and always seek to be of service to students. You are welcome to come to any or all of the scheduled events/activities, and of course, the Yellow House is open to almost any time for you to come by and hang out. We hope to see you there!
