📸Teen Issue #1: Identity & Self‑Worth
Teens today are drowning in comparison. Every scroll tells them who they “should” be, what they “should” look like, and how far behind they are. They’re trying to build an identity while the world keeps shouting that they’re not enough.
“The world tells you to prove yourself. Jesus tells you that you’re already worth dying for.”
What a Teen Can Do
• Stop comparing your behind‑the‑scenes to everyone else’s highlight reel.
What you see online is edited, filtered, and curated. Your real life is not a failure because it’s not perfect.
• Speak truth over yourself, not labels.
Say what God says: chosen, loved, seen, valuable, created on purpose.
• Pay attention to what drains you.
If an account, friend group, or environment makes you feel “less,” step back. Protect your identity.
• Let Jesus define you.
Your worth isn’t earned. It’s inherited. You’re loved before you perform, succeed, or impress.
If You’re a Parent
• Affirm who they ARE, not just what they DO or how they look.
Teens need identity words: “You’re brave,” “You’re kind,” “You’re creative,” “You’re loved.”
• Model healthy identity yourself.
Teens imitate what you live, not what you lecture.
• Create a shame‑free home.
When teens feel safe to fail, they learn who they are without fear.
• Speak destiny, not doom.
Your voice becomes their inner voice. Make it sound like hope.
