Today begins the liturgical season of Passiontide. You will notice upon entering the church that many of the sacred images have been veiled. This depicts what we read about in the Gospel according to St. John, the fifty-ninth verse of the eighth chapter:
“Then took they up stones to cast at Him: but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”
Our Lord then proceeds to perform many of His most notable miracles, which we have heard about all throughout Lent - ultimately, going on to His Holy Passion.

The choir will sing the Kyrie and Agnus Dei from Albert Joseph Dooner’s (1889-1973) “Missa Brevis.” Intriguing, yet wafting, chord progressions perfectly illustrate the veiled mysteriousness.

Hymnody to include “I know that my Redeemer lives“ (Dunedin) and “Kind Maker of the world, O hear“ (A la venue de noël), which is a text by St. Gregory the Great, whose relic is in our very altar. Bach on the organ, and Gregorian Chant throughout. We just love great music around here…!

And if you have not already heard, this evening at 5:00pm we will have a Service of Solemn Choral Vespers. A time of prayer and reflection, with musical works by composers old and new! All are encouraged to attend!

We look forward to seeing you today at 11:00am and 5:00pm!
