Join us in this Good Friday prayer prepared for our body by our Prayer Team:
Oh, what a blessing! To stand in the dichotomy of our current hope and the shadow of our sin hanging on the cross this Good Friday. This blessing was not evidently at hand for Jesus’ followers on the first Good Friday – what an unbearably hopeless day that must have been for them. But now, we can look through the shadow of that hopelessness to see all the beautiful praise that fills the New Testament and worship the Lord’s perfect Gospel by praying these words together.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior, because He has looked on us with favor.
His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him. He has done a mighty deed with His arm; He has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts; He has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
He has satisfied the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.
Praise the Lord! He has visited and provided redemption for His people!
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us – that means, one who can actually WIN – and provided salvation from our true enemy and from the clutches of those who hate us.
In your merciful compassion, the Dawn from on high has come to us to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Though today we should be crushed like our enemy, He has rescued us from the enemies’ control, and He has given us the privilege to serve Him without fear, changing us from dirty to clean and inviting us into His presence all our days.
This man who hung on a tree is the image of the invisible God…the firstborn over all creation. Everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.
We put him in his rightful position: at the head the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything.
Through the blood of His cross—the ledgers are being fixed in our favor!
Before, we were separated, but now His physical body brings is into the inner circle of the Lord through His death and (spoiler alert) resurrection. He presents us holy, faultless, and blameless before Him – this is our Good News!
Thank you Father God, Jesus Christ the Son, and Holy Spirit of God!
