Stop by and see St. John's on the tour today! Refreshments and live music from 1-5pm. Tour our historic sanctuary that was built by the early settlers of this valley in 1830!

December 13: The Myersville-Wolfsville Area Historical Society presents the Annual Country Churches Christmas Tour, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; COST: Free!

MWAHS presents this tour of old, area churches decorated for Christmas.

To begin the free, self-driving tour, stop first at the Community Room of the Myersville Municipal Center at 301 Main Street. There you will find tour maps, a list of participating churches, interesting historical displays, refreshments, and restrooms. Also, local history books are for sale, which are perfect for the local history fan you haven't found a gift for.

NOTE: The first Church, Harmony Community Lutheran, was accidentally omitted from previous promotional information. MWAHS apologizes for our error!

The stops included in this year's tour are: Harmony Community Church; St. Paul's Lutheran Church; Mt. Zion United Methodist Church; St. John's Lutheran Church; Harmony Church of the Brethren; Salem Community Church; St. Mark's Lutheran Church; Hillside Chapel (formerly Pleasant Walk UMC); Garfield United Methodist Church; Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church; Foxville Schoolhouse; and Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church.

Among the historic features of these churches are beautiful stained-glass windows, an M. P. Moller Company organ, important paintings, a soaring wooden ceiling, and Scandinavian embellishments. Two of these churches were established in the mid- to late 1700s, most others in the 1800s, and two in the early 1900s. These old churches and buildings yet stand because of the care and love bestowed upon them by their communities.

(If Frederick County is closed due to inclement weather, the tour will be held the next day, Sunday the 14th, at the same time.)
