Faith Trusts in Christ for Life Eternal

When the beggar Lazarus died, he was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. For he was truly Abraham’s seed. Like Abraham, he believed in the Lord, and the Lord “counted it to him as righteousness” (Gen. 15:6). The name Lazarus means “God is my help.” The unnamed rich man, on the other hand, did not love and trust in God. For he evidently cared little for the beggar at his gate. And “he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen” (1 John 4:20). He who loved and trusted in possessions and prestige died and was in torments in Hades (Luke 16:19–31). Repentance and faith are worked only through Moses and the prophets—that is, the Word of God, for it points us to Christ. Only through His death and resurrection are we brought the comfort of life everlasting.

📖 Bible Verse of the Day

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."
— Genesis 1:1-2 (NIV)

From the very first words of Scripture, we see God as the Creator of all things. By His powerful Word, He brought order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and life where there was none. These verses also reveal the presence of the Holy Spirit, reminding us that the Triune God has been at work from the beginning.

The same God who created the heavens and the earth continues to sustain His creation and work in the lives of His people through His Word and Sacraments. In Christ, He brings new creation, forgiveness, and eternal life.

✝️ Prayer: Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, thank You for Your power, wisdom, and love. Help us to trust in You, who made all things and continues to care for Your creation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Join us each week as we pray for one of our District churches. This week we pray for Christ Lutheran Church in Mustang, OK. We thank God for this congregation and for the faithful witness of His people. We pray that the Lord would continue to strengthen them through His Word, bless their ministry in the community, and fill them with joy as they share the love of Christ with others. We pray for Pastor Ross and all of the lay ministry workers and volunteers. We pray that God would grant them wisdom, encouragement, and many opportunities to proclaim the hope found in Jesus. Lord, bless Christ Lutheran Church and all who gather there in Your name. Amen.

📖 Memory Verse Tuesday

"So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."

Through faith in Jesus, we are welcomed into God's family and given a new identity. In Holy Baptism, Christ clothes us with His righteousness, assuring us that we belong to Him.

As you go through this week, remember whose you are—a beloved child of God, redeemed by Christ and strengthened by His promises.
