Most of us got handed a faith. This summer, we're going to claim it.
Starting this Sunday, we're launching The People Called, an eight-week series on what it actually means to be a United Methodist. Not the rules. The living thing underneath them.

Grace that finds you before you go looking. A faith that holds heart and mind together. A holiness that shows up in your actual life.
This Sunday at 8:45 & 11. All of June and July.

What's one word you'd use to describe your faith right now? Drop it in the comments. 👇

The service for Rev. Raymond Griffin will be on June 15th at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church of Edmond. Internment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
Below is a beautiful tribute written by our District Superintendent, Rev. Jeff Jaynes:

Please join me in prayer for the family and friends of Rev. Ray Griffin who passed away on May 25, 2026. Rev. Griffin was born in August of 1935 in Wyandotte, OK before moving to Vian where he graduated from High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, Rev. Leland Griffin, Ray answered the call to ministry by serving as a student pastor at Wheatland while he attended Oklahoma City University. It was also there that he met his future wife, Nancy Sutherland, and the two married in 1957. Ray then went to Perkins School of Theology and later to the University of Oklahoma.

Rev. Griffin served churches across the Conference in his astonishing 58 years in ministry. He served a four-point charge in Idabel-Haworth-Pleasant Hill-Redland before "just" serving two churches in Calera and Colbert. His ministry journey then took him north to Covington, Oakdale, Aline, and Minco before he joined the Chaplain Corps of the US Army. He was stationed in Fort Sill and served overseas tours in South Korea and Vietnam. Upon his return home, he returned to serve churches in the Lawton area (Hulen, Lawton Bethel) while also teaching reading in Lawton Public Schools. He then moved to Quinton and, finally, to Okay where he served in a retired status from 2002 until 2013.

Rev. Griffin was a beloved part of the life of St. Paul UMC in Muskogee. He continued his love for children and reading by helping out at Project Transformation, teaching Sunday School, and in countless other ways. Ray and Nancy (who passed in 2017) had three children--George, Chuck and Sandy--five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A celebration of Rev. Griffin's life will be held at 10am on Monday, June 15th at Edmond First UMC with a visitation on June 14th from 4-8pm at Baggerly Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Please join me in prayer for all who loved Rev. Ray Griffin. As his family noted in the obituary, "he will not be forgotten."

Celebrate the life of Raymond Griffin, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Baggerley Funeral Home.

In Romans, St. Paul tells us that we who have the Spirit, are children of God. But what does that mean? And how does it happen?

Join us tomorrow at
8:45 AM in the Chapel or
11:00 AM in the Sanctuary
We'll be looking at Romans 8 and conclude our Pentecost series, Breath and Fire with the sermon, Spirit in the Bones.
See you here!

It is with a heavy heart we inform our church family of the death of Rev. Raymond Griffin a couple days ago.
Ray was a sweet man who loved and served, both in ministry to the Oklahoma Annual Conference and his church family.
The first picture on this post is from an article the newspaper did on Ray's love for and involvement with Project Transformation. He is certainly missed.
We do not have service details at this time, but if we learn of some we will share them.
Please hold the family and friends in your prayers.
